What are voice tones?

I was on the virgin mobile site looking at the ring tones for the slide. One of the ring tone types they had was voice tones. What are they?

A voicetone is a ringtone that talks. For example the motorola T720 phone has a voicetone that makes a short ringing noise then it says "You have an incoming call". So basically your phone is telling you that someone is calling rather than ringing to let you know.

I hope they have songs sang by the actual people. I bought one from cingular a month ago only to realize that it wasnt nelly but some random person singing his song
