Alright guys, after using various screen overlays that they sell on the web for P900/P800, I have just one thing to say - THEY ALL SUCK ××?! The screen turns blury after you stick one of those overlays on it, and sometimes if you don't do it right, you'd get bunch of bubbles in the overlay. Bottom line - it's crap! NOT ONLY THAT! They charge you out of your nose!! Come on! $10 - $15 bucks for a piece of thin film! WTF? Why don't they go rob the bank!?!

Anyways,

Here's an awesome solution, which will allow you to see the screen PERFECTLY CLEAR (no bubbles, no blury!!) and it's super cheap too (cost pennies):

(1) Get a VERY percise metric ruler (that measures centimeters)
(2) Get an overhead transparency slide
(3) Get an exacto-knife
(4) The percise dimensions for the overlay should be 6.4cm x 4.5cm exactly, so cut the transparency slide to these dimensions

Note that the overlay's "Height" is exactly the same as the screen's however, the "Width" is 2 milimeter larger than the screen's width. The reason for this is so that you can tug the overlay nicely in the little slit right between the screen and the phone casing. To apply the overlay, simply insert one of the sides into the slit first, then gently bend the overlay upwards into an arch shape, then insert the other side.

I made about 10 of these in less than 10 min. I love them, and I think you will too!!

Sounds great. I'd like to give it a try. Someone else on here did a nice tutorial with cutting out a screen protector that are for pdas. It works nicely, but I get bubbles and taking it off when you've almost got it on when dust or something falls under it, is hard.

How does this one work for the p800, since it is a little fatter in the middle for the width than it is at the top or bottom. I guess by sliding it under the edges of the frame? I'll have to try this out.

Since there's no adhesive, does the plastic slide around, even the tiniest bit, or is it perfectly stationary?

I ask because even the tiniest movement could, over time, cause anything in between the plastic and the screen to scratch the screen.

Just curious.

Great idea! But it all depends on when we remove it and find out what actually happens after, say a month. I'm using it and its great protection surely.

i believe those screens protectors are made with those problems in mine. i used a boxwave one and the clarity was a lil bit lost but nothing too big to bother me. also i think guys might still get dust under the screen protector since theres no adhesive on it. also my boxwave has anti glare so u bright lights wont be a problem and the texture is put there so u dont get slip on the stylus when u type. i do think they overcharge for it tho. but i wish i knew about this b4 i bought one tho. good job on this. let me know how long u have it for b4 dust gets under there. i guess all u really have to do is take it out and wipe it off.

I had a few of these made for me today....16 actually. I just put one on and it does seem to do the trick nicely enough. I'm going to use it a few days before making any real judgement though. sdsviet touched on a few good points (glare, dust etc) so I want to see it perform first. At first look though it does seem to work and cost me $0! Had a friend of mine at Staples make a few during her shift.

@bigblk150: The sheet I have on mine does not have any movement either up or down. The first one I tried did, but then I had one made a bit wider and taller and after some squeezing it fits snug. I'm sure dust can still get under it, but it's easy enough to take it off.

I just use WrightRights I got for my Ipaq. I basically cut the Ipaq WrightRights to 6.4cm X 4.3cm and they work for the Px00 perfectly. If you use the included cardboard piece to smooth it out, no bubbles or no mess and you can get a good dea (under $1 a piece) on ebay. I Ilike the technique here though and I may try it out once I run out of WrightRights

on a recent trip to comp usa i saw a number of pda screen protectors on clearance. i bought a couple packs for like $3 and brought them home for my p900. i used the screen protector that came with my device as a template and cut the pda protectors down to fit the p900 screen.

as for bubbles, well, the trick is to burnish them out. you can do this with a credit card or something flat and pliable. you start in the middle and *gently* push the bubbles toward the edges. in a minute or three you'll have a bubble-free screen protector.

my only concern with the transparencies is what they could do over time to the screen and the seal between the screen and the device. probably won't cause problems but this was one expensive little bugger so i'm not taking chances.

Since the dimension are a 2mm longer than that of the display, the protector is supposed to tuck underneath the casing but between the display. Does this gap between the display and the casing becomes larger and therefore allow more dust and other particles to get trapped into the phone?

Does anyone have the exact measurments for a perfect fit when cutting down a larger PDA screen protector to P800 size? (or better yet, if someone has a template they could send me, i'd be eternally grateful!) Thanks

i tried the overhead slides, after 2-3 days of use it becomes really scratched up and ugly...anyone have the same result? or did i not get the right slides

i had the same result, and besides that, when i was tryingh to tap something on my screen, the screen was not responding as usual. sometimes it did not respond at all
