Dunno how to do it yet. I tried modifying the camera sound file in db, but it didn't work. Might be in the firmware.

i tried to modify the sound in the db to... no such luck. oh well, ill keep trying. someone will figure it out.

I think you are the reason they made the camera sound mandatory.

yeah, probably has something to do with privacy and stuff. i want to get rid of it for my privacy, so people dont know when im taking a stupid picture of myself and sending it to one of my friends in another class.

that's the reason i posted that.

the reason the sound is there is due to privacy issues.

people dont want random shots of themselves. u know?

but yeah, to get rid of that to play around in class would be nice.

so does anyone know where on the phone the sound might be? i see a shuttersound.txt file, but when i modified it, it didnt do anything. hell, ill remove the sound completely if i have to.

I think the sound file itself is stored in the firmware. So, maybe t3rmin8r has a shot at removing it. Not sure why they put the file in db folder though... Maybe there is a backdoor to get to it.

I'm working on picking apart the firmware now. My guess is that a lot of the pix and sounds that the fone has are stored in the firmware. Especially the animations and wallpaper for the various screens, including the menu.

I'm wondering if you can point me to the software you're using to extract the firmware from your 8900. I'd like to start working on some firmware mods for the Telus version of the phone.

Thanks in advance.

I wonder if he is using some kind of PST, or modified GAGIN. <envy>

To answer your question, see THIS thread.

Someone has to figure out the specs for the photos and where the animated wallpapers go.

I was thinking something more like RSS SuperAgent. Is there a generic firmware downloader that can be used with the data cable? You seemed to elude to the fact that you were doing some firmware hacks, so I was curious as to what software you were using to retreive the codeplug for the phone with. If you're just talking about the Brew filesystem on the phone that's cool, I must have misunderstood what you were talking about.

Well, in addition to the BREW Apploader, I use a modified version of Q P S T.
