Sanyo/Fisher only makes phones for Sprint in the US. They use the Qualcomm chipsets. Nokia only recently came back to Sprint and Motorola has been mostly absent from Sprint's lineup for a while. Sprint's finally going to get more phones from those carriers, as well as Curitel, Toshiba, HTC, etc.

Plus sanyo never had enough experience dealing with GSM system, it's obvious since Sanyo makes CDMA/PDC for their japanese domestic market. There were one Sanyo Phone, but it was colaboration between Chinese cellular company and Sanyo in China.

Will a Sanyo phone ever see the light of day on Verizon. For Christ's sake Sanyo=cdma, Verizon=cdma. Why no Sanyo phones Verizon? And don't tell me about the exclusivity deal! Money talks and Verizon has tons of money!

Well you could, cough, get a Sanyo from Sprint and, cough, unlock it, as I know for sure the 8100 works on Verizon, cough

Sanyo phones work very well on 1900MHz, but I had pretty rotten luck with my 8100 roaming on Verizon and US Cellular. It performed very poorly; much worse than my Kyocera 2235 and 2255 handsets.

To Sanyo's credit, the 7200 is much better than the 8100 on analog roaming. Too bad it doesn't roam CDMA800.
