Sanyo SCP5500 Keypad

First I would like to say I have had Sprint for the last 3 weeks and it has been a nightmare with their CS. Besides the fact they had my first bill at $220. Which was only about $100 more than it should of been.

I have the Sanyo VM4500 (Blue) and I like the phone.
Does anyone have any issues with their key pad, my back button is slightly more receeded than the other buttons. It works but you have to press it harder. Please let me know, thanks.

The speaker phone every once in a while you can hear like a hiss, or high pitch squel also.

I've had no issues with mine since buying it 3 weeks ago. Everything is working good .... *knock on wood*

Sounds like a defective phone..I've had my phone since the it was released Nov 24, no problems what so ever, looking at the back button on keypad, mine is even with all the others. I would try to take it back and get another one, exspecially if the speaker is making a hissing noise, sounds like a faulty phone..

My back button is also more recessed and the LEDs behind the buttons don't look even in light output. Sucks.

I was getting ready to exchange the phone but if your back buttons are also recessed a bit maybe I wont, it feels like when you push it down you can feel the phone's plastic more on the back button.

The only button issue I have is with the little side-key camera button. It works fine, but the button is a little crooked and sticks out a little unevenly, but as I said, it works fine so I really don't care. All my other buttons are fine. The key backlighting is a little uneven, but it is certainly sufficient to see the keys in the dark. I favor function over aesthetics, so things like this don't really bother me.

I don't know what to say about the speakerphone hissing sounds. I've only used mine a couple times and haven't had any issues with it,except that it's not full-duplex. How long does the sound last? Is it really loud? Does it make it impossible to hear the other person?

Now that I look at mine, the back button is just a tiny bit lower... but not by much... I almost think it seems intentional, sort of how some manufacturers indent the end button.

The only thing I would tweak asthetically would be white LEDs under the send & end buttons so they actually look red/green in the dark... and that's not an issue at all. I love the blue color scheme and it's even more cool that I can actually pick the LED colors so it does light blue when calls are coming in, dark blue when I have a voicemail/text.

Well after hearing back from some of the users on the board, from what I am finding out is that some of the keypads are recessed. I just exchanged mine on Friday at BB and the new is not recessed quite as much, the first one I had was like it was a worn button or circuit board underneath.

The new phone does not receive that digital garbage, ( high freq pitch noises) thank god.

But I do notice that the speaker phone on this one sounds more pop when the user you call starts speaking, and yes that is what the volume down to 1.

Does anyone pay , if they have Sprint, a number pooling and portability charge? It is like a $1.10 a phone, from what I hear, Sprint does not have to charge us that but they do, it is not Federal mandated like the USF charge.

Let me know guys.

when did you guys purchase your phones?
Maybe posting ESN numbers(w/ some *'s) might help if there was any bad batches of 5500's?

I got mine in Jan. My ESN is 0450012****.
and I don't see that recessed back button on mine.
Maybe I am lucky that I got a good one.

How much recessed back button are you guys talking about?

Mine isn't recessed that much at all... the only way I can even tell is if I look across the keypad; the other buttons are just a hair above the casing, the back button is flush with it. Probably less than 1/2 mm. or so. It almost looks intentional, and doesn't feel "worn" in comparison to the others. As for the $1.10, I have it on my bill. I think we all do.

From what I've read some of these phones, when trying to connect to dial out, will go from connecting to redialing for no apparent reason. Seems to be a bug.

mine does that, sometimes for no reason (not often), but normally when the signal is fairly low (2 bars and under).

The thing is, my 5300 did the same thing, so I just thought it was how Sanyo designed the phone (maybe network is busy and it's waiting for it to clear up?)
