how to change WAP proxy on CDM-8900. ##BROWSER<END>?

I just got a CDM-8900 from Verizon, and I'd like to set my WAP proxy to point to one of the free WAP proxies out there - or maybe run my own proxy. I am not currently subscribing to Verizon's mobile web service (maybe this is the problem?). I've searched through the threads but I'm a little confused as to how to do this...

I saw some mention that I should edit the WAP proxy in the menu I get to using "##BROWSER<end>". What exactly does this mean? I know what the "#" key is ... but is there a "BROWSER" key? Is this the "web" key (i.e. the "left" key on the keypad)? Basically if I hit "#-#-<web>-<end>" ... nothing happens.

Do I need to subscribe to mobile web (temporarily) to do this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
