~~ The Unofficial Innostream Inno 80 Thread with Pictures !! ~~

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

There should be a total of 18 pictures and for some reason you cannot see them, please follow this link:

LINK TO ALL PICTURES

I've just gotten this sick phone and I thought since there seems to be a lack of attention of this phone on Hofo (there are tonnes of Inno 90 info but very few for the 80), I'd start an Inno 80 thread here, and I'll start by posting a few high res pictures to get you guys started with in case you wonder how the phone looks like...

I'll later on post more info on my impression, reviews, feedbacks...etc, and people, feel free to add to this thread if you have any comments and keep in mind, I am not a professional cellphone reviewer so don't expect any kind of indepth, technical reviews from this thread

here are a few snapshots of the pictures I've taken with the Inno80, since I do not have the cable (not yet ) therefore I am forced to take snapshots using my digital camera, when I get my cable/software later, I'd post some actual pictures

So far, some goods and bads I found about this phone after 2 days:

Goods:

Solid Make, excellent pearl white colour with chrome accents and beautiful attenna.

Above average camera, I think it is 110K CCD with 4X zoom and user adjustable brightness/contrasts and image size, I would compare this to the camera on a Samsung E715 but not as good as my 6600, way better than the Sony Ericsson T610 since I've used the aforementioned phones before, I am limited to only compare this to these phones; if there are some GX22 or 20 users out there, feel free to do more comparison.

Moving jpg wallpaper on main LCD

Camera takes still photos and burst shots as well, digital camcorder but no sound

Above average battery life consider the 262k+65K screens eat up a lotta battery I suppose.

There must be more, feel free to add...

Bads:

Very limited connectivity options. Proprietary cable/software only (as far as I know) and no Bluetooth/irda connectivity, huge obstacle when user trying to download photos/videos to and from the phone, esp with the phone's capabilities, some kind of conenctivity is a must and worse yet, the cable is NOT part of the retail pkg, well, for the first shipment of Inno's anyways...

262K TFT main LCD looks more like a decent 65K to me. Well, I've used quite a few 65K colours phones and this Inno claming to have 262k colours doesnt look an aweful lot nicer than the 65K colour ones I've had. This can be explained since a true 262K phone like the Sharp GX2x phone uses the Sharp's patented (is it?) CGS technology, TFT simply can't compete here....
OR
maybe it is because there's no source, data, pictures in this Inno that can take full advantage of its 262K TFT colour display power, this is yet to be known as laster on I will find out when I have a chance to download a picture with more vibrant colours (one taken with a 4MP+ digital camera perhaps...)instead of the ones taken using the 110K CCD integrated camera or any embedded samples the Inno has.

That's it for now, if you have anything to add, please feel free to do so as I am providing info here about this Inno 80, I am hoping to learn fro what YOU know at the same time, cheers!

Great that somebody posted pics of the Inno 80. I think it looks much better than Inno 90. I ordered the Inno 89 and will post some pics hopefully next week.

I just have one question: Is it possible to copy various phone numbers from the SIM card to one contact int he phones memory?

Thanks again for the great pics!

Hows the refresh rate of the camera? Is it as smooth as the Samsung E715 or choppy as Sharp GX20?

Posted by: peanutboy

I personally think the refresh rate of the inno 80 is quite impressive, it is by no means choppy and very "close to real-life", if you know what i mean, it also performs a lot better than some CMOS 110K integrated cams in other phones, I guess the CCD lens is better? the digital zoom adds more "userbility" but images do become "grainy" when i have them blown up to 4X since most integrated cameras with zoom in cellphones are digitally extrapolated anyways, nothing compare to real optical zoom.

But as u can tell by the last 3 pictures, the quality isnt unacceptable even with one of the pictures being zoomed in from a distance at 4X.

I have never used the camera on the Sharp GX2* so I cannot comment on this but this one in on the inno80 definitely is comparable to the one I used ont he E715, as far as refresh rate is concerned anyways.

Thats probably the only thing I don't like about the Sharp, it's refresh rate is probably the speed of the SE T61x series. If the Inno's refresh rate is anything close to the E715, then I will be really happy

Why would you pick Inno 80 over E715?

I totally agree, the 80, 89 and 90 are really nice phones and I would pick any of them over the e715. I just ordered my 90 and am waiting for it to arrive

Posted by: Funmap

I expect my Inno 89 to arrive by Wednesday the latest and will post some pics and experiences ASAP!

I have used the camcorder and I am not sure I am missing something or not, it does not record sound but heck, i ain't using it as a digital camcorder anyways, I have a real one

with that aside, teh quality of the video-only stream is not bad, like I said, I am still waiting for my cable, wish me luck gettin' it soon therefore I can post soem actual pix and vdos taken with this sick phone!

Posted by: peanutboy

Yeah I had to agree with ya, the CGS technology used on teh GX22 (I have a Sharp dv camcorder that uses the same technology) is simply the best in the market so far... and teh Inno 262K TFT is no match...

reasons I got the inno and not the GX

1. I am cheap the inno 80 cost me fraction of the price of a GX22

2. I absolutely hate silver flip phones, I dont want to look like a telus pig well, i mean the one they used on commercial heehee

3. I fell in luv with the samsung SGH-S200 when it was released and teh only reason taht held me back in gettin one is because it's quite pricey for a phone without an integrated-camera, I believe even now it's still selling in the $400cad range for a new one... and I think the Inno 80 is actually the upgrade of that phone, u gotta admit the S200 and the Inno 80 do look a like in some ways.

Totally agree with you peanutboy!!
I was about to get the Inno 80 white too cuz I previously loved that phone. The inno 80/89 are like a monster upgrade of the S200

Posted by: Dc5

I like the black inno... looks really cool..

i was in HK for xmas, they were selling at $2400 HKD... not everywhere can find Inno80 too.. i guess theere shipment in HK finally arrived when i left.. so im guessing its alot cheaper now..

cuz Smartone had a offer for eht GX-22 $29xx HKD...

I am a cheap guy too, If I were to buy the GX 22 @ that time it would have cost $4xxx HKD..

so i got the phone but needed a plan ( which was okay, found someone that need a cellular plan in HK )

again cheeers

Does anyone know if the black Inno 80 has the kind of finish that will easily leave fingerprints? In the pictures found on the web, the black 80 looks really glossy, but the silver and white ones have a more matt look to them.

I'm trying to bid for a black 80 on ebay now since I can't find it anywhere else.

Posted by: peanutboy

I first had my heart set on the black Inno80 as well, but as soon as I saw the pearl/white colour inno80, man, was I surprised how gorgeous it looks, hence I got the pearl colour instead

Posted by: musicalai

and he tells me AFTER I just won the bid on the black Inno. Darn.

LOL don't worry man, both colours are nice! How often do you see a black clamshell phone now? Most of them are silver(Samsung, moto, SE, innostream, panasonic, sharp), red(samsung), blue(Se, samsung, moto), E715, or white(samsung, innostream)

Posted by: juniinuj

where can you order the inno phones online? like on ebay what exactly should i type in for the search? or where else should i look? ..can the phone be used with tmobile?

Posted by: Dc5

I think the black one looks really good!

the white one maybe too easy to get dirty!

i tried both in my hands, i prefer the black one more.. but the white one looks nice too if its clean!

I was just browsing through GSMArena.com and realized they've finally included Innostream in their line up. I was glancing through the specs for the 80 and discovered, to my horror, that it employs the ITap system for sms! Someone please tell me that's NOT true...

Posted by: .FLiP.MATiC.

My Inno 89 says T9 predictive text when I create text msgs.

Posted by: musicalai

Well, I've ordered my Inno 80 already. I've not heard anyone mention that they use ITap so I hope the site was just misinformed... But if they really do, I'd be

type in innostream and look for an unlocked one. They will work with tmobile

Posted by: peanutboy

The Inno 80 actually has (well, mine anyways) 5 input methods:

T9 Abc (English)
T9 Stroke (Chinese)
T9 Pinyin (Mandarin Chinese)
T9 BoPoMoFo (Mandarin Chinese)
and last but not least
Multi-tap (I-Tap)

***** I have to quit smoking weed, well I already screwed up brain twice on it. Ahh well.

Posted by: juniinuj

which phone is better..the inno 80 or inno 90? i read on gsmarena that the 80 got better reviews..im just trying to decide which one to get..id rather get the one that has better features

Posted by: Funmap

Well, the Inno 90 has the better camera. The keypad is larger. Plus you have the electric lights that runs in a circle around the outer display. But that is about it. I had ordered an Inno 89 but got an Inno 90 instead and I am very, very happy with it. The silver edition looks very stylish in reality, much better than in pictures. I hope that helps!

I agree, the only thing that is a downer is the camera, and no service light, not sure if the 90 is just a decorative light tho. i'm pretty sure the 80 and 89 has the same camera type which cannot take 640x480 pics. I'm so used to that sized(E715 and GX20).

Posted by: dkny_boi

The inno 90's light isn't a service light... i wish it were, but the way it works i'm not sure how they could've made it one, coz i think it might look kinda funny having the whole ring blink every few seconds.
Right now all it does is slowly fade thru different colours everytime u close the phone, and when someone calls, it fades thru all the colours, but at a quicker rate than when you just close it.

ONLY if the Inno90's clamshell design can be a little more innovative and not resembling yet another silver flip (makes me feel like Telus, eeewww ) I would've gotten the 90 instead of 80, but since this isnt the case, I settled for the 80 for its unique design and its rareness in the market... I do see the inno90 everywhere, esp on ebay, here on hofo... etc

Posted by: .FLiP.MATiC.

Yea in Toronto, I have only seen 2 Inno- 90s, 2 mandarin/taiwanese guys had it and basically showing it off publicly.

I was originally planning to get a white inno 90 but it was rear, so then I decided to get a white inno 80, then they just released the inno 89 so I chose that one heh heh.

i really like the color of the inside of the white 90. I'm not sure how well the outside looks though with the two tones, I've never seen any good pictures of the outside of a white inno 90

Posted by: .FLiP.MATiC.

Yea thats a shame too, if you saw a white one in real life, its real nice.
If they had a black one like the inno 80 but with silver trimming, that would be nice too!!
