(Forums didn't work for me)
-I recently got...story....story...story... Some of the things that were posted on forums were so pointless, I felt dumber having read it. So let me tell you what you need to know.

(important info)
-DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM wirelessphonegallery.com especially the data cable for your cdm8900. They rip you off and they don't do $%&* for you. Look them up in badbusinessbureau.com, they're there.

(Best place if you need a datacable)
-The place to go to is www.rpiwireless.com. They sell for HALF the price of wirelessphonegallery.com and they are supporting the very product you need to transfer things on to your phone, Bitpim. I unfortunately bought from the evil company above.

(Software to transfer ringtones and goods using a data cable)
-Now Bitpim is what's going to let you transfer all your cool goods from your pc to your phone. The bitpim for 8900 is not yet available but soon will be. I searched EVERYWHERE for something that would allow me to transfer rintones to my cdm-8900 and there is nothing as of yet. If you already have a data cable like me then wait until bitpim is made for your phone. The website is: bitpim.sourceforge.net
(Transferring songs and pics to your 8900 without data cables for verizonwireless people)
-Go to VZWPix.com and send yourself ringtones and pics. They claim it's free but I can't say for sure, but def. check it out. After you send yourself the tone or pic don't forget to save it.

(Conclusion from forums I visited)
-Audiovox gets an F for customer service
-Audiovox gets an F for customer service
-Audiovox gets an F for customer service
-The 8900 speaker phone option is worthless, so don't use it and don't bother contacting audiovox.
-The flashing verizonwirless logo will never go away, blame verizon for this one. They however, have good customer service.
-The 8900 has bad speaker quality on the highest volume
-The pic quality on the camera isn't that great but still usable
-8900 is a decent phone

This is my conclusion to a long search, I hope this helped.

I purchased my OEM cable from wirelessphonegallery.com when I first got my 8900 in November (I'm a Telus customer) and I didn't have any problems with them at all. Hell, it only took 6 days for the cable to arrive, and I'm in Canada. It's too bad you had a bad experience with them but what's the point of deriding them here without any background story to illustrate your point?

You CAN transfer ringtones and images to your phone without BitPim being 'made for the 8900'. It's a rather simple process, and if you read the messages in the Telus forum, you'll be able to do it too. Unfortunately, this is not an option for Verizon customers yet.

I'm not sure where all the ire for Audiovox comes from. For the most part any omissions from handset firmware is based almost completely on what is requested by the wireless carrier. If the wireless carrier wants a nice flashing banner on the sub lcd, they get it (Verizon) if they don't the feature doesn't exist (Telus). I mean honestly, Audiovox doesn't even manufacture the 8900. They're purchased from Pantech & Curitel and rebranded in North America.

Sorry... I had to vent. This post is misleading at best.

It's nice to have both view points and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I didn't add the story part because it seemed unimportant but since you seem to be interested here goes my summary: I ordered my data cable on feb 2 and recieved it on feb 16. I paid $72. During that time they didn't even email me to let me know there was a delay, i just waited. When I emailed them for a tracking number they told there was a delay, this was 6 days later, from my purchase date. I emailed them and told them they should upgrade my mailing plan because part of the agreement was getting the product within a certain time frame. They ignored me and sent it out normal shipping. Now what made me really mad was that when i recieved this, having purchased it after reading: "AUDIOVOX Mobile Office Kit, includes configuration CD & USB Connection Cable. Mobile Office will Connects the CDM- 8900 to PC or Laptop for internet, transfer phone book, Ringtones and more . Use your CDM8900 as modem to connect to internet. *Not MAC Compatible." on thier site, I found out I couldn't transfer ringtones. That's when my long search begain. I emailed wirelessphonegallery.com and they told me to contact audiovox.com. Audiovox.com told me they dont know where i read it but they lied to me. To top things off i found out that rpiwireless.com sold the similar product for half the price with more and better features. I emailed audiovox 4 other times about things regarding the phone and they gave me bad answers. A lot of forums I visited also had people who encountered bad experiences with thier customer service. In conclusion I feel I got ripped off and lied to. So just wondering, what software do you use to transfer ringtones and apps with Telus? Maybe I can try it with my phone. Can you send me the app? akura2000@yahoo.com Thanks.
