Okay - so people are getting the Slider to work w/ Verizon - how?

I bought a VM Slider off of eBay. I tried to register the ESN but when I tried to activate it it kept connecting to VM... how do I activate this phone w/ my Verizon service? It seems that ppl are gettin' away with it.

okay so here are the directions i found but i dont' understand them:

Log onto verizonwireless.com and enter in the new ESN

111111 [OK]

Programming [OK]
Enter Secuirity Code: 868666 [OK]

Srvc Sec. Code [OK]
change 868666 --> 000000 [OK]
[BACK]

Verizon needs it to be 000000 so that you can do Over The Air programming and PRL update. Remember to use 000000 and not 868666 as the SVC code next time you go back into this programming screen.

(NAM2 is used by Verizon, might need to enter the following info for NAM1 also):

NAM2 Info [OK]
MIN [OK]
[BACK 10 times to delete] 0000000658 --> 10-digits phone num [OK]
check MDN, should be the same
Home SID [OK]
find out your home SID from http://www.bridog.net/cellular/sid.txt
drop the leading 0's, ie 00030 -> 30
Extra NAM Info [OK]
CDMA NAM Info [OK]
Home SID/NID [OK]
enter in the same SID as above for both SID and NID

exit programming screen, press hang up

now dial *22801 option 1 to activate with verizon, it'll also update the PRL

now verify your PRL
##786 [TALK]
Verizon's PRL should show 42xxx, 50xxx, or 52xxx
Sprint PRL is 10xxx

I don't understand that at all past registering the ESN.
Plus my phone already had an acct. with VM.
I think if I could get into the programming section of the phone I could figure it out - how do I get there tho?

It keeps connecting to Alltell now when I try to activate. Why is that?

I haven't input the ESN yet - maybe thats why?

The first thing you need to do is swap the Slider ESN with the ESN of the phone you are currently using on Verizon Wireless. You can do that using VerizonWireless.com if you have registered an account there, or you can call customer service and have them do it. I hear they don't usually charge for doing it over the phone, but I know online there is no charge.

Then follow the steps. What are you keying into the phone that you say is connecting you to AllTel?

well when i try to activate it (*22801) it connects to alltell and asks me if i want to update my roaming capabilities

- any theories?

Try *22802, *22803, etc and see if one eventually says Verizon. If you were able to hit *228 on your Verizon phone before and get a "Welcome to Verizon" message, then it's probably just on a different *228 number.
