P800/900 SMS problem?

I have this problem. When someone sends me a SMS, sometimes the phone does not show that a new message has been received. When I reboot the phone, the message is now received. I use to be able to fix this problem by turning off GPRS, but now it's back.

Anyone suffering from the same problem?

Are you using GPRS-Preferred in your SMS setting? If your GPRS reception is spotty at times that problem occurs.

I have my SMS setting at GSM-Preferred. Then again, if I have poor reception, or get disconnected from the network (going into building basements or tunnels with no repeaters for example) that problem appears and I either reboot the phone which forces it to look for a network, or do a select network or new search on the GSM Network screen in the Control Panel/Connections tab.

Another idea is to get in touch with your carrier to see if they have issues with either the SMS or with network coverage, or the preferred list on your sim card needs updating.
