Now that I've settled down fooling with the 8900 for hours of fun customizing backgrounds and mp3s.

I was thinking of trying out those GetItNow apps. Anyone know of Mobile IM is available for the 8900? It says its unlimited free for the 6000. Billed as text messages.

Ideas?

Mobile IM has not been released to the 8900 yet, or any other phones, for that matter. Very soon should we see it come to more phones than the vx6000, and the 8900 is on that list. As far as other options, you can have your im's for AIM sent to you when you are offline. You can respond as well. The drawback is no buddylist and no way of messaging people that don't message you first. Then there is 4646. That is the number to text to to get online through your phone to AIM. You send a message to 4646 with just your screen name followed by your password. This will log you on to their system and you can then recieve a buddy list and select who you want to talk to - all through the built-in text messaging. I find that 4646 is fairly awkward and is certainly not speedy. Currently I have my im's forwarded to my phone when I'm offline and am waiting for Verizon to release the next issue of their Mobile IM program.
