I have four LG vx 6000s in the house and everyone wants something different. Can Bitpim be used for more than one phone by setting up seperate files or seperate Bitpim installs?

Steve

Steve & anybody else interested.........here's the reply I sent to your Yahoo groups question of the same nature.........

I would say, yes, since I'm using a 4400 and 6000 on version 7test4. Unlike your situation, I have to select which phone I'm using per each visit to bitpim since it treats the phones differently, so you don't have to worry about that, but here's what I do in regards to handling files separately for the 2 phones............

#1.) Make folders in *another* folder besides MyDocuments\bitpim. Reason being, bitpim will always replace the files in that folder everytime you "Get Data" by default. What I did was make a folder called "6000" (for my wife's phone) and "4400" (for my phone) also under "My Documents". They're named differently so they'll have no effect on the MyDocuments\bitpim directory. Bitpim will still stash your stuff temporarily like it already does. You could make 4 folders & call them whatever you want..."John", "Mary", "Jimmy", "Suzie"....or whatever.

#2.)Just make sure that whatever you're playing with in each individual phone, you go to the MyDocuments\bitpim folder and copy+paste over to your "John" (or whoever) folder before you exit bitpim & somebody else gets on bitpim & *replaces* your files. If you don't copy+paste over to **your** (John's...or whoever's) folder your data will be gone as soon as somebody else "Gets Data" from their phone.

Hope that helps.

Use edit->settings to change the working directory before you do a data->get.
