e911/location and power consumption

does turning location 'on', increase the power consumption of the phone?

i guess the answer may depend on if there is actually a GPS in there, or if location is determined by triangulation or something to different cell towers.

No it has no effect because all turning it on does is allow 911 and some other services to locate you when those services are being used. It'll let you know when they are being used.

Disabling it prevents anything except E911 from locating you. As it is, E911 is the only thing that utilizes that feature.
