I recently purchased a usb data cable off ebay which came with a cd with a driver called, PL-2303 Driver Installer from Prolific Technology Inc.
The problems is that I install that driver and connect my usb cable to my computer yet its still looking for drivers.
I then uninstall the driver and restart my XP then plug my usb cable it finds the new hardware Prolific USB-to-Serial Com Port
but it says it needs files: The file 'ser2pl.sys' on USB-Serial Cable Diskette is needed.
so I let xp search the cd which came with my data cable and it can't find that file (ser2pl.sys)
and also when it does recognize my usb data cable its on com port 7 not com 1
if any one else is having the same troubles with there cables on xp about ser2pl.sys and has that file or any information about it please contact me via email at: SafetyWasOn@hotmail.com
or aim: FZS Vick
i would greatly apperciate it.
prolific has a website for it but i believe theres too much traffic
tech.prolific.com.tw/visitor/v_fileBrw.asp thats the link
let me know if it works for any of you.
and if you do have the updated drivers please let me know where i can get them
-thanks

i manage to install the drivers for the mobile action usb cable for x70 butt the system then becomes too unstable... my monitor keeps changing resoloution and starts flickering when i use the handset manager... i also tryed to flash my x70 with that cable but i resulted in a blue screen in win xp and i corupted firmware update. the usb cable driver seems to have problem with the usb devise drivers with win xp .... it keeps giving me errors in blue screen about usbuhci.sys failure .... what can i say...
( driver seems to work fine with win 2000 pro) try it

2 clicks on Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm in device manager then click Port settings then advanced and below change com port what you like - for example Handset manager from mobileaction use default settings for usb cable COM5. This cable never should be on 1 or 2 COM port because they real in difference of other ports which are virtual. We have USB cables not COM.....
