i have a serial data cable for my phone now. what do i need to be able to upload ringtones and pictures to my phone? I downloaded the datasuite from mysiemens but it looks like its just for the address book and stuff

I also have a SL56 and am having troubles uploading ringtones. I have a USB datacable from a SL55 and when I connect to SDS, it sees the phone but can't read the melody list or pictures that are on the phone. And I think because of that, it won't let me upload new pictures or rings. I also have IR on the laptop but can't seem to get that method to work either. Any advice??? TIA

actually there's a way around it... transfer it as an attachment, attach it to an email and make sure you save it in "outbox" of outlook, then transfer through serial data (synchronize) to your phone. open up email inbox and save attachment. files with mmf and mid ending will be under /mydata/tones(?) pictures will be in mydata/pictures

sound confusing? I didnt know anything bout cellphone so I brought a serial cable.. well, as long as I can transfer stuff, who cares

i have a few question... I searched and couldnt find anything so if my questions have already been answered i apologize.

First off i am with the cingular network and i ordered a att wireless phone (SL56) from ebay. unlocked it and upgraded the firmware (10) the phone its self works great but i recently purchased a ring tone and the link to dl it was sent to my phone via SMS. When i attempt to dl the tone i get the error msg "GPRS connection failed" I tried the various setup profiles listed on the cingular forum but none worked for me. None of the setups seemed to be for my phone but i tried my best to put the proper info where i thought it belonged. Any help on how to setup my SL56 phone for Cingular GPRS/WAP/CSD/Email profiles would be greatly appreciated.

Second... since i couldnt dl the ring tone from my phone i attempted to dl it from my pc and use the email "outbox" trick in outlook to send it to my phone. That worked out great the attachment was there and it saved it to the exact location you (choopstix) said it would. But when i go to apply the new tone it says "Cannot Load Ringtone" and doesnt play. Any help on how to fix this or a place i can dl ringtones with ease and trasfer them to my phone like this is much appreciated.

I too have an SL56, and have a couple questions. It's an At&t model, unlocked for Tmobile. Will upgrading FW lock it again? Which would be better to use, a serial cable, or USB?
