OK yeah well i tried to get ringtones for my 6000 but BitPim will not work for me. As soon as i try to read my phone it locks up my computer instantly. I went to a friends house and used his computer and it worked fine. I am running windows XP pro so i dont know whats going on. Any help here? ive tried to re instal the drivers for the phone, and BitPim neither seem to have helped any.

I am also running WIN XP PRO and had the same problem. However I had both the USB and serial cables. The USB was freezing up the computer to the point i had to shut it down manually. The serial cable worked fine. Everything as far as i could see was set up correctly. If you are using the usb cable try getting a serial one.

If you provide more data it would help. E.G. cable type (USB/RS-232), source (RPI, Radio Shack), driver source and type, Bitpim version, ringtone type. There's a comprehensive set of instructions for doing what you want but it's impossible to know everything about your system and people don't document problems they don't have (how could they).

The usb cable i have i purchased from U.S. Cellular that is also where my phone is from. I tried using BitPim6.2 and 7. Both did the same thing. As far as what ringtone i didnt have one i cant even get into the phone to access the place to input them. The cable i have is a USB non charging cable. The drivers came with the Cable directly from LG. If i do need a serial cable where can i go about finding one? THanks for the help
