I was wondering whatthe size limit is fo rringtones on the vx4400 i have about 6 tones on it and i cannot put more on.

I am using the straight usb cable so i expect problems but i just get a non communicating error. I can put pictures, contacts and schedules on without trouble.

I am getting the vx1/10 cable this weekend if necasary but i just wondered if this is common.

using latest bitpim .7.4 or somthign like that

thanks

The max file size per ringtone is 64 K If you try to put one larger than that in, you get an error. I am using the Radio Shack cable and have no problems.

I currently have 12 (360 K worth of ringtones) in my phone, but I have had more.
I had 22 when I was experimenting and had no problems.

check how much memory u have left on your fone throught gin.
i have like 900kb of ringtones (mp3) about 20 songs.

I don't know how to check the availble memory.
I use bitpim 6.2 to load my ringtones and wallpapers through the cable.

The 64k limit is a myth.

I have ringtones over 120k.

how do i bypass that error also?

Well, it is no myth on my phone. When I tried to load an 80K ringtone, it refused to do it and an error message came up saying 64k max size for ringtone.
If you found a way around that, great, but I can't do it on the standard version of bitpim.

Using bitpim 0.7test4 they load in fine.

I've loaded an 80k mp3 on my VX4400 using Bitpim 0.7.4

Versions of BitPim previous to 7 have limited the size to around 64k. Using Gagin, it is possible to load midis of larger sizes.

There may indeed be a limit to the size of files such as midis that are uploaded to the filesystem. I don't know. I have several files larger than 64k and have not experienced abnormal functioning of my phone.

Teck1, how is it that mp3's are on your phone? Do they work?

one more thing:

you cannot upload a ringer to the phone via Gagin and expect it to work, you must also use a little program called mapedit to edit the map file for ringers.

I've found gagin to be pretty simple, though it takes some getting used to.
