MP3 on VX4500 OK

I wanted to explicitly mention that the LG VX4500 supports MP3 ringtones. I use:I couldn't get Windows 2k or XP to talk to the phone but I didn't try that hard. Quirks previously mentioned:The quirks are likely something to do with Bitpim or the way I'm using it. Bitpim LGVX4500 support is incomplete but I can install images, tones and change the Verizon Wireless banner.

About that banner. I like to use the digital clock which suppresses your personal banner. This is annoying. Not supporting a blank/white wallpaper is annoying. Changing the idle screen to white was what motivated me to get Bitpim and fiddle with my (now retired) VX4400 in the first place.

I had sucess in doing this too. I too use Bitpim 0.7.4, VZN office kit, and windows xp. I cut some mps down to 33 seconds and edited with soundforge and cool edit pro. When I went to add them to the bitpim ringers page it did not show the files. It only sees .mid and .qcp files while on the ringers page. I just renamed the small mp3 files to .mid files and then added them to the ringers page, sent data to phone, and the phone plays them just fine.

for those of you who are actually looking for file setting details. the mp3's will work on the vx4500 when set at

32 Kbps
22050Hz
Mono

if you're using cool edit pro, uncheck the "save extra non-audio information" box.

seriously, how are people supposed to learn anything if we don't post the details of how we got it to work?

Well since other settings work I didn't want to confuse people by providing specifics. It's also the case that if you review all the material posted here about loading mp3 files into LG phones you'll be well prepared to try it with your phone.

BTW - The only constraint I found was mono. But I don't feel like testing all possible bit-rate/sample-rate combinations.
