I just ordered this phone and it's coming in the mail.

Is it possible to record ringtones?

I have a Nokia 9290 and I can simply record my voice like "Pick up the phone!" and use it as my ringtone.

no, you can not use voice recorder for ring tones. You can record them as wave files on your computer, convert them to mfm files and then load to your phone as a way around the restriction.

I have never heard of MFM format.

Is it of lower quality than WAV?

MFM are not good quality..., they are made from:

8000hz, Mono, 16 bit wav file
