but cant seems to connect my phone to computer
why??????

Posted by: lost_rebel

using what tool? what are you trying to do? You have provided too little information to have anyone help you

Posted by: Michi

sorry

there are too many software in the cd installer(come with usb cable)..

cb2000, edit tool software

i tried using edit tool software but i cant connect the phone to the pc
it will get 'operation timeout'

Posted by: Michi

oh and...
what at the edit tool software,
what should i set at the serial port "baud rate"??

COM1
and the baud rate??

Posted by: lost_rebel

does not matter, the mobile will autobaud to your computer setting. try cb2000 and see if it works. If it does, you have the wrong datacable. Use the search function on this website for help. All of your issues have been well documented in the forums. take some time and research it. do not get to impatient

my problem rite is i cant connect ..
the phone and the pc wont connect
........................................

Posted by: lost_rebel

good luck with it. probably will not connect for one of the following:
1. Wrong type of cable (service vs data)
2. Comm port is open by another program
3. mobile is not at the home screen
4. on a rare occasion, the serial port does not play well with the phone (Dell Latitudes are a prime example)
5. mobile on? (check this one first)

From here, maybe someone else wants to take over and hand hold the troubleshooting process

what do u mean home screen?

2. Comm port is open by another program???? wat do u mean?? pls explain... i have the feeling this is the problem to it... but how to fix it..

im pretty much sure i bought the right cable... MOBILE PHONE - COMPUTER DATA CABLE for PAN GD88

pls help~!!!!

the home screen is the screen on the phone that the mobile normally stays at. It is the one that shows the wallpaper only.

One other thing, if you have a pin code active, you have to deactivate it. simply entering the code is not enough.

As for the comm port, if another program has opened the port, then edit tool can not use it. Programs such as the nokia sync program, palm hot sync and others may have the comm port tied up. These programs must be shut down in task manager. I also believe that the program will not run right in win 95/98...but I am not sure about that.

I dont have prog such as the nokia sync program, palm hot sync.

Posted by: lost_rebel

did you try everything listed above? Also, what firmware do you have in the mobile

Posted by: Michi

still cant......
what do u mean firmware?

Posted by: lost_rebel

sorry michi, but I have tried to help you. I believe that you need someone at your computer to help. No offense, but you will probably do more harm than good to your computer/mobile if you continue down this road. There are tools available that will kill your mobile dead if used improperly and your level of knowledge about computers and the mobile is, well, lets just say that you should learn more about ur computer before getting involved with this stuff.
