I have a se47 slider, and When i was told that switching to verizon would enable me to download ringers n wallpapers i thoght that was a good idea, but i thought that we (vmobile users) werent able to because of our browser . That would not change just bcause of the switch. I also heard there was a filter, is that service-wise, or is that bcause of our browser. It would be great to get some new **** for a phone with so many capabilities.

It's the same concept as if you have a black&white television; if you get a new cable service, it doesn't mean you'll get colour service. Get it?

It is true. I use waptunnel's service and i still have the filter. Good analogy virgin mobile.

Yeah, it's as filter programmed into the software. Makes me uncontrollably angry

How do you use waptunnel Dragon? I tried to use it and it wouldn't work. Maybe I should try again, is it better than VM's server?

i think i use the 9201 and 9202 ports...im not sure though. ill get that info for u tommorrow. and to me it's not noticeably better. it might be a little more reliable. figured it was too much trouble to switch back, so i never did.

ip: 207.232.99.109
ports: 9200 and 9201

but i might not be actually using those ip's. my browser was set to uplink b

Yeah thanks. I'll try it out and see if it's any better.

waptunnel is gonna be down until tommorrow and it will be down again sometime in the back half of march when they do a server switch. that is why i am unsure if waptunnel is acceptable to vm sliders. but i think waptunnel does work...i'll find out tommorrow or the day after that.

This waptunnel seems interesting. Do i jus type that ip address into my ip info box. What exactly makes this better than the standard.

For owners of the Slider with the old firmware, waptunnel does not really have any advantage over the default WAP gateway. However, if it is possible to use waptunnel, that gives hope to owner's of the new slider who cannot get around VM's hardcoded browser homepage. There's also a chance that a third-party WAP gateway like waptunnel would provide a method of downloading ringtones and wallpapers directly into the phone -- although there has yet to be any evidence that such a thing would be possible.
