what phone did you flash?

it took 85 minutes?!?!?

For my gu87 it takes 21 mins or so for the entire process!

Using serial cable and a 120mhz notebook

I got six megs in and my battery died... didn't realise the photo light stayed on or I would have made sure I had an absolutely full charge! Really hope my phone isn't dead and that none of my personal information has been lost...

i have a gu87, will flashing make the caller id pics full size?

OK folks, I'd love some help if anyone's got any.

My flash failed (see above - battery died about 75% through) and now the only thing that works is the charging circuit - the orange light goes on, but even after four hours on charge the phone won't turn on and Winmodo can't make any connection with the phone. I didn't flash the boot section, so I don't see why it won't connect, and I'm all out of ideas.

I could drop it down the toilet and claim a new one on the insurance (I haven't got Orange Care), or just beg Panasonic to flash it, but I'd rather not.

you can't charge the battery with phone that doesn't have firmware installed. You have to find a fully charged battery, and reload the firmware again. Don't panic when the phone shows trans error at first, you just have to restart the download again. Make sure you charge your battery with another working phone. At first your battery will not seem to be charging since it totally ran out of juice, it would take several minutes before you notice the battery is charging. Because I did not have any friend who uses a x70 around me, I have to buy a x11 which is a chinese version of x70 and charged up the x11 and flash the x70 with the x11 fully charged battery. My x70 went out of battery at 70% downloading on code, and I was still able to restart the downloading. Hope you can fix it too.

Thanks for the tip, senfu - I don't know anyone else with another X70 either, so I'll have to ask the friendly chap in the Orange shop to charge my battery up for me.

Hi guys,

A pleasant discovery was made when I upgraded the x70 firmware to A30. There's indeed a fast way to upload the firmware and LP together and it took me just slightly more than 20 mins using 115200 baud rate! No guarantee this will work for you. And do this at your own risk please. Some slight changes were made as followed :

1. After installing the device driver for your USB data cable, go to its device properties to change its baud rate to 115200 (at the same time select com 1 as its com port).

2. Then open the winmodo program, select the baud rate as 115200. Then start download. "Rx error" will appear on the external display. Cancel download and wait for a few seconds before restarting download. For my case, it was successful after the second attempt.

If this works, it will save your battery and time too.

I agree with wifree. It took me only 20 minutes to finish the download too. I also had the rx error, but I can start the download without a problem. It was an accident when it happen. Because I was so anxious to start the failed flashing on my x70, I forgot to check the setting on my com port speed.

20 minutes, eh? That rocks! You all have me so paranoid about the battery dying before the flash is complete.... my battery sucks to begin with. I have purchased 2 spares from Ebay, but none last as long as the stock battery. As soon as my cable arrives in the mail, I'll be trying the 115kbps method as well. :-)
