Hello everyone,,

I am using SE47 Slider on VZW and I just love the phone. I got the phone last week and still playing around with the phone.

I have couple of questions and here they are:

A) When I get home at night I plug the phone to the wall charger and it goes from Vibr. mode to Ring Mod and I have not been able to swith it back to Vibr. mode while it is pluged into the wall. the reason why I want it on the Vibr mode is cause I dont want to hear the the phone ringing while I am sleeping and I dont want to turn of the phone cause I want to go over the missed calls list if some one call me while i am sleeping. I tried to to turn the ringer to mute but it does not go to complete silent. is this normal?

B) Is there a way to delete some of the numbers from the recent calls lists? when I go to option I have the option for that number it does not give me the option of deleting it from the list.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Most phones do this... I'm only speculating but I suspect is is to prevent damage to the jack while it's plugged in and charging.

Or, have you ever seen a pager or phone skittle across a table when it starts to vibrate? Having the phone plugged in and falling on the floor could cause damage too.

I have had a few phones that had that option. My last phone V60 had the option. After you plug it to the wall charger you have the option of changing the ring type to Vibr or even mute. This is something that this phone is missing and hope they can correct this problem.

The short cut (# key) is disable as soon as you you plug the phone into the wall charger. I have not tried it with the car charger yet and I will try that and will report back.

And what is the story with not being able to delete phone numbers from the recent calls list??

Thanks

a) kyocera dictates in the owner's manual that the phone won't do silent mode while it's on a charger.

b)lol@vm...umm, as far as i kno u have to delete all of them. u can't just delete select ones. maybe with a data cable u could delete select ones, i dunno.

As with the Slider, my Audiovox 9500 specifically disallowed being on vibrate mode while charging. I doubt Kyocera would consider this missing or a problem.

But I think we should have the option of turning of the ringer /mute it and I think its fair and it should be one of our options.

We don't have a difference of opinion on that one, but I can see why this was designed this way.

You go to your local Verizon Wireless store, and get their service and get the Slider as your phone. It's better because it's not all filtered out like the VM ones. (i think)

I think what Followurpath meant was how did he get it before the released date. How did you get it Devilish?

The Slider will be release on March 9th, you'll be able to get it then, 2 more days, can't wait.

Tony E,
I am using the VM version of the slider on VZW not the Verizon Version. The unlock codes and instructions are on this great forum. The phone works great on VZW servise with no problem. I purchased the phone from a local Target store.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Devilish, that confirms then that it can be flashed with Verizon's firmware.

I'm assuming you got the firmware flashed at the Verizon store right?

This doesn't confirm anything about Verizon flashing the firmware. Flashing the firmware isn't part of the process of getting the VM Slider working on your Verizon Wireless account.

If you read my post it says that it can be flashed with Verizon's firmware, where on there does it say that it's part of Verizon's process (policy to be correct) to flash a VM phone?
Get your facts straight before you flame me.

That's what I'm saying... no one has had their VM phone flashed with Verizon's slider firmware, and another poster in another thread was given the runaround when asked if the flashing would become available. Someone posted they were using a VM slider on Verizon (as am I and others) and you responded by saying that confirmed Verizon could or would flash the firmware on the VM slider, which isn't the case... the following is what you posted, which is an incorrect assumption:

It's not a flame, it's a clarification for anyone else reading the thread.

Devilish says that he has a VM Slider flashed with Verizon's firmware, i'm only going by what i'm reading from his post, so if you say that it doesn't confirm anything then i guess that makes Devilish a liar, thanks for the clarification.

Here's Devilish's post, which mentions nothing about firmware:

Other threads explain how he and I and others got it working on Verizon, and firmware flashing isn't part of the process.

Posted by: Tony E!

Yes that is true, he does not mentioned any flashing, perhaps Devilish will share how he got his VM slider to work with Verizon since my question was directed at him to begin with.
I appreciate you taking the time to point the previous details to me.

Tony E,

First I am sorry to get back to you so late but I just got home from work. OK the phone is NOT flashed at this time and as pgens said we dont know of anyone that have flashed their VM slider with VZW s/w. I am just using the VM Slider on VZW sevice and it can be done without flashing the phone with VZW s/w or shall we say fireware. I am just waiting for the fireware to become available to have mine flashed.

Thanks to pgens for answering your questions and his reply.

Toney the VM slider phone can be unlocked to work on VZW but some people have told me to wait for the VZW version to come out but I didnt cause I am not due for a new phone at the dis×××× price til 10/04 and I didnt want to pay $250 (retail Price) for this phone.

If you need any oher help please post and we will all try to help you with your question.

Thanks

Devilish, you are a true gentleman in the manner that you handle yourself in this forum, thanks for your reply.
Yes there was a minor misunderstanding there but Pgens was nice enough to point them out to me.

Pgens, no hard feelings, i wasn't sure how to read your responce, i gues i'm so used to some people attacking one another that i guess i had my guard up.

Devilish, i appreciate the info, at this point i guess it doesn't make a difference anymore because tomorrow i'm going to get a Verizon version Slider, though it would be nice to know how to get around it just for reference. i.e. VM Slider.

Thanks for your help Tony E.

How nice to see people are getting along here. Glad I could answer your question Tony and yes PGENS has done a great job with answering your questions and also others.

Tony let me know as soon as you get the phone. I hear stores have the phones in their stock room and if everything goes well then you will get your phone as you wish and I hope you like the phone.

Now I just have to see when will they be able to flash my phone with VZW fireware.

I will have a beer with Tony and Pgens if you guys dont mind and I am buying this round.
