As we all know Sony's "flagship" phone lacks a hands free profile to allow connection to most car bluetooth systems. Rumor has it that someone has modified some software to allow the 2 to work. Anyone have information on this. Rumor began on the acuratl forums but the person who claimed that a p900 was modded to work refuses to give details.

I think this is only rumor and wishful thinking...... But I hope someday SE reads this forum and decides to include it in the next firmware upgrade..... As I believe a lot of individuals as myself are waiting for it to happen.

Frank

Now the guy is saying it requires a certain flash and is charging $75 to do it. Its very very tempting.

see if its possible to speak with one of his customers, or get a screen shot of his phone connected.

none of these are reliable because they can be falsified, but its a step, and possibly see about going in on it with a couple of close friends and split the cost and then share the flash.

Here is a response from a member of the acura forum

"You need to update your P900's firmware to be able to use some of the handsfreelink features. If your Organizer verision is at least R3A06 and Bluetooth version is at least R5D you can make it work in a very crude way. Pairing will work. You won't see anything on the MID and you cannot voicedial or use the handsfreelink's phonebook. But wouldn't you know it, it supports their headsets with caller ID just fine. Sounds like they engineered it to work best only with their overpriced accessories.

SonyEricsson has really basterdized the Bluetooth implementation on the P800/P900. As mentioned above, the phone supports the headset profile and it supports the 'office handsfree' (speakerphone) profile but not the handsfree profile.

I have e-mailed them so many times about this and they have sent me a standard reply each time. I think SonyEricsson is going to miss a significant number of sales of this phone because of the piss poor bluetooth support.

I'm thinking seriously about selling mine but there is nothing else out there with a decent PDA and handsfree support."

What do you guys think of it.
