X70 Firmware Upgrade

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi Guys,

I have seen a number of threads with regards to obtaining software and cables inorder to update the firmware on an X70. There are also threads where members have claimed that they have upgraded the firmware to A30.

What I haven't seen is a step-by-step guide to how this was achieved.

I upgraded the firmware on my previous phone (Panasonic GD87) and as part of the process I hade to cover two of the contacts on the phone. Can anyone tell me if the same rule applies to the X70.
If so, which contacts do these apply to?

Thanks in advance

Hal

I've seen the step-by-step on the other forum.
However, it's in chinese. The member there kindly explains how he does it the normal way. No any trick or special method I mean.

He used the X11 USB data cable, it's also usable for X70. The X11 USB data cable come's with the phone in the box. It's like samsung's S200/S300, they include the data cable as part of the pakage with the phone.

**unlike the GD88, you don't need to cover pin 4/10...if i remember right**

You just plug in the USB data cable and do the flash. There's also a travel charger plug on the X11 data USB cable! you can plug your desktop charger in there.

Some users have claimed the time for the update is about 85mins

If you can read chinese, it would be a lot of help for you
The guy also include some screen shots so it's much easier for people who have never done flash the phone like me

The website is
www.mobile01.com

try to find a tread with like X11/X70...and go in there.
the guy also includes ALL the software needed for the update!
you don't really have to understand chiense, but you can at least
find your way to the tread by looking like X11...X70...firmware..update...in english.

good luck

Many thanks OmniLove20.

Hmm.. Now who can I find to read Chinese?

Just out of curiosity OmniLove20, have you updated yours?

No, I havn't update my firmware.
My firmware is A19

I don't have the USB data cable, so I can't do the upgrade myself.

Even if I want to do it myself, I would hesitate of doing so becouse I'm worry that the battery may run down during the flash, or something unpredictable or hard to solve during the process.

There's still much higher chance of success to do the upgrade.
If you're not totally sure what you'll need to do for the upgrade, I suggest you go to any cell phone store that does cell phone unlocking/upgrade with "GARANTEE". If they messed up your phone, they would have to pay you a new one, or try to repair it or pay you money as for the compensation.

I had a very bad experience with my pass GD88, I never got to use it! The guy tried to unlock the phone and afterward he tried to upgrade my firmware from A38 Rogers ATT to A53....he fails....he does gave me a bluetooth dongle afterwards...long story..

good luck.

Thanks JohnnY

Am I correct in assuming that the language pack includes "English"?

According to my phone, that is the only language it includes. Because I used to have chinese before I flashed. Doesn't matter to me though. If you need other languages, then find another language pack than what is in the guide.

WHOO HOO! I just flashed my phone in 15 MINUTES!!! I used a generic USB cable that I purchased from ebay (not mobile action cable)...but I used the mobile action drivers. I set the baud rate to 115K (not only in Winmodo, but also under port settings for the com port). My camera has less blue dots, the resolution is better, and all my crap is still there! :-) The firmware I had was A19, now I have A30.
