Anyone know how if there is a way to input custom words for the T9 Predictive text dictionary on the Nokia 3390?

I think you type in the word and if it's not correct there's an option to let you type it in manually, that will cause the word to be saved automatically.

well while your typing in the text msg... go in the options.. look for a option called dictionary.. and select english.. that should do the trick..

Does anyone know of a less tedious way to customize it, such as with a webinterface or somethign like that?

Can you be more specific? What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to add in a couple dozen abbreviations at onece? Voicestream does let you configure 'handles' for email addresses you want to send to regularly.... Give us some clues.

Is it names of your pals that you are trying to get entered? I've noticed that Nokia phones tend to have the top 'American' first names already stored -- plus major cities,companies, etc.

actually my bad... i thought you wanted to turn on the t9..... actually.... t9 automatically.. remembers the word you type in.. so if you type in the word "cowabunga" and if its not in t9's dictionary it auto adds in the word in its memory so next time you type in "cowabunga" it will type it out for you..

I keep typing pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis and I run out of space somewhere around volcano.

Actually, I've discovered that if you have a lot of pet words, you can just

1) mail a message to your mobile phone containing your slang;
2) read and 'forward' the mail -- I cursored backward through the words such each was highlighted in turn;
3) then mail it out to 500.

I'm not sure step 3 is really needed. Note that T9 treats symbols like:
!
@
,
.
;
(
)
among others as word ends, and it attempts to resolve the word when those characters and the SPACE character is used.

thx for the tips. i'm going to play with the dictionary tommorrow, basically i just want it to recognize my slang and jazz like that, not the buddy names. voicestream's web interface is ok, but it takes alot of playing around and sites liket his to learn all the features on the phone.
thx for the tips.
