Bitpim problem with importing wallpapers

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

OK....... So the problem I am having is that I have 2 cpu's I play around with. 1 at home and 1 in the office. I have Bitpim 0.7-test3 installed on my work cpu. Everything works great on it. The Problem is at home. I have used both Bitpim 0.7-test4 and 0.7-test5 here and I have the same problem.

When I import any wallpaper to bitpim it defaults to a .jpg insted of a .bmp file. I can't figure out why? And when I import the wallpaper to my phone, the file is a jpg and therfore I can view the picture but not set it as my wallpaper....................

I am stumped!!!! On the work cpu it imports as a .bmp file, and I can set the pic as my wallpaper. If anyone has any ideas to help me fix the problem I will be very grateful......

By the way all my wallpapers are saved as .bmp files!!!!!!!!

You need to go back and get the .62 bitpim and it will work fine. Don't know why he is changing the extensions in his new version but it drove me nuts until I found a post in here telling me to go back to an old version and it will work. The new versions don't work right for the LG Vx 6000 for transferring wallpaper.

I am going to put that version out on my site under the links when I get home tonight so if you want you can go to my site after about 8 central time and download it and it will work fine. This version also takes the ×××× white space out of the top and the bottom and gives you a full wallpaper that looks nice.

My site is at www.mvp-hosting.net/cell

I will do a little write up on what this file with take care of that if so frustrating and put a link to downlaod it. Just make sure when you install this one you have uninstalled the other ones and have deleted off the folders where they were on your computer.

I've seen the same problem with test 5! On previous versions of v 0.7 test, any jpegs that I sent to the phone got sent as .bmp files. Now it sends them as jpg even if it's bmp on the pc end!

Not only that, but I uninstalled and deleted the stuff in the bitpim directory in my documents and installed test 4 and now THAT one does the same thing as test 5 does!

So I had to revert to 0.62 for the VX6000. That one works ok but is a little tricky since if you have 'replace' checkmarked, it will re-upload ALL of the wallpapers showing in the wallpaper window, even if they're already on the phone. The previous test versions of 0.7 were at least smart enough not to do that..

I hope that bitpim reverts to it's previous 0.7 test versions of automatically converting uploaded wallpapers to .bmp format. Things are a lot easier that way!

Thanks Monkey Boy for the help. When I get home I'll try ot 0.62 and hopefully it will fix the problem!

It will fix you right up.

Just look under the Links button on the bottom left of my page and you will find the .62 version there. Just download and install. Have fun!

Reboot and make sure you clean out all the files if there are any in there. I got it the first time I installed and then rebooted and then all was fine.

Posted by: Ninjad

I'll reboot and see what happens!

Posted by: Ninjad

Okay I rebooted but still got the same error message while trying to get data from my phone. Maybe I got the wrong 0.62 version?

Is there updates for 0.62?

Did you post it on you're website Monkeyboy?

Posted by: monkeyboy24

Yes I put it up there for you guys to download.

www.mvp-hosting.net/cell

Just click on the links button on the bottom left and it will take you to the link to download.

make sure you uninstall the one you have now and delete the folder before you install the one on my site.

Halleluja ! ! ! ! !

So it finally worked. I had Bitpim 0.62 from another site and that didn't work. That's why I asked if there were other versions of 0.62. Now I used the one from you're link and it worked!

Monkeyboy You Rock!!!!!

Thanx for the help man, I really appreciate it!

Posted by: monkeyboy24

No problem. I went through 2 weeks of hell before I found it.

Glad I could help. Pass it on if you see others having problems. Might help male patern baldness in VX 6000 users...lol.

Now its time to have fun!!!!!!

Posted by: Ninjad

I was about to go bald myself there for a while!

Bye the way monkeyboy, Is the link you have you're website?

I'd share my wallpapers and ringtones if you want some new ones!

Posted by: monkeyboy24

Yep, its my site.

My goal for the site is for everyone to share what they have and take what they want.

I'm sure myself and other people would be very happy if you would contribute some of your favorites to the site.

I try to upload stuff when I find good stuff. Most of the stuff is things I have uploaded but other people are starting to join in so go for it and share your library with everyone as it would be much appreciated by everyone.

Posted by: Ninjad

How can I upload to the site?
I registered but I can't find where to upload it to?

Posted by: monkeyboy24

Go to the link on the bottom left called FAQ. It will tell you what to do. To find the uplaod link you need to go to the correct category which would be polyphonic ringtones or wallpaper and click on the LG then the VX 6000 category and on the upper left you will see an upload button.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Yes, there are different versions of BitPim for different phones. Look in your error message, and you'll see it referring to LGVX4400. Wrong version.
