i recently bought a dual sim adapter to try out but now i can seem to get it to fit it in my p900 sim slot. since its metal theres no slack for it to bend and slide right it. it fits but the groove where the its partially shaved off isnt enough to let it slide it. the only way i can think of is trying to shaved down the groove more but i really dont want to mod my p900 that way or either bend the two metal holders on the side up a lil to give it some slack to slide in and then when its in just bend it back. have u guys done anything like this before or any suggestions. also my tmo sim seems to be bigger in the metal area where i have to cut it to fit in the thing so i dont know wat to do anywhere.

here's the link of the sim adapter

i try to post a pic when i can find i a camera i cant use the p900 cuz it would have to be off to show the dual sim trying to slide in the slot.

I have one other solution to that... get sim doctor and you can have multiple numbers (up to 5) in 1 sim. I have it on mine.

how does the sim doctor work?
can you select what sim/number to use in P900 once you program it in or you have to take the sim out and program it every time you want to use a diff number/network??

you can copy up to 5 sims into the included multi-number simcard. when you put it in the p900, an application called "multinumber" shows up on the application list, and whenever you want to switch numbers, you just run this application to select the phone number you want, and the phone restarts with the new phone number.

on the website its says this:

"Store up to 10 GSM SIM (GSM 900/1800/1900 comp128-v1) Cards into one Multi SIM card"

the thing is that all the new sims are com128-v2. so i dont think its gonna work. was ur sim card from a couple of years back when it was the V1 version.

jpjolo,

Is using a multi-sim the same as ALS (Alternate Line Service)? If not, this is another way around having multiple SIM cards.

The P900 supports ALS, and according to the documentation, both lines on a SIM programmed for ALS can be active at the same time.

Not sure if ALS is the same as having 2 or more lines on a SIM and switching between them as you describe.

With ALS, both voice lines are always available. Using a SIM switcher, only one can be active at a given time. I presume a multi-SIM would be the same way as it effectively has the IDs of several SIMs in it. With ALS, on the carrier side of things, it identifies your one SIM ID with multiple numbers.

Kind of a moot point for most of us though, ALS isn't supported by every carrier. Just last week a T-Mobile rep told me they don't support ALS at all; it's one SIM = one number on T-Mo. Not sure about Fido (my primary carrier here in Canada). Best to check with whomever your provider is if that's what you're looking for. I'd love to have ALS... sure as heck beats carrying two phones.

Ugh.

I was really hoping that T-Mobile supported ALS; the ability to have 2 lines active simulatenously would be really nice for the whole home/work thing.

Looks like I might be doing the SIM doctor thing myself then...

Ok, my bad for not being clear. T-Mobile in the USA does not support ALS.

I just got it late 2003.

One phone sim replaced Nov 2003 by T-Mobile, others are old.
Sim doctor purchased around Dec 2003

so does that mean that ur nov2003 sim from tmo worked for the sim doctor?

wow this sim doctor sounds fab, there does one find out more about this in terms of cost and availability (in the uk)
