no one has figured out how to use a vm slider as a modem. it is locked out or hidden by the firmware.

I know how to unlock the uart2 some one said you can use it then but would i have to dial the isp on the phone?

Yes you would still have to dial an ISP. There is a free method of internet access for Sprint PCS phones on the Sprint PCS network, though. The reason I phrased it in that form is because it won't work on the Virgin Mobile cellular phones.

Can you confirm this? Has anyone tried calling #777 with UART2 enabled?

From there you make a new dialup connection on your PC to #777, leave the username and pass blank.

Making a voice call to #777 will be rejected, it is a data call number only.

Well i set it up at home and it's not working has anyone gotten it to work with virgin

Yeah, I tried it too without success. I think UART2 must be disabled completely in the firmware, so even when it's enabled in the debug menu, it still doesn't work. I can't get it to respond as a modem at all when the serial cable is connected.

I wouldn't go that far, it's prepaid, you get what you paid for. However, that said, I probably will be returning my V5 Slider, since I already get free data with Sprint.

some one needs to put the verizon firm whare on an fpt or somthing
