inno 90 issues

im not too sure if these are issues, but there are a couple of things that are really bothering me about this phone.

1. when placing a call, the phone displays "please wait" until it is connected. is this normal?

2. also when placing a call, you cannot hang up. i have pressed the end key like nuts and it will still not hang up! the only thing i can resort to is closing the flip. unfortunately, this is also an issue while using the headset, which is very bothersome. opening and closing the flip just to end a call is nonsense.

so my question is, are all inno 90 phones like this? because if they are, inno has some real design flaws IMO. of all the phones that ive played with or had, ive never had this problem. thanks in advance for any replies.

Inno 89 has these problems too...Also when reception is down to 1 bar, it automatically hangs up which leads to the please wait problem that you are talking about.

Posted by: brianphung

just to clear up... even when i have almost full reception, it still says please wait... i think. im too lazy to test it out right now, maybe tomorrow. haha... although i could be wrong . well, nonetheless, i find the hang up problem are extremely annoying. i think ill stick with my e715 for now, i havent found anything wrong with it so far ^^. thanks again for the reply.

btw, do you know any other phones that are of this caliber (e715, inno 90, v400... maybe not so much v400, lol) or better that are nice to play with? i guess you could call me an upgrade whore, as one person so nicely put it (although im not as hardcore as those guys who change their phone every week, perhaps even every day or two). i suppose you could say i was extremely disappointed with the inno, and i need something to satisfy my techy urge. just to finish up, i wouldnt recommend the purchase of an inno 90 if you are considering it for your main phone, although some people might find it to their liking.

Posted by: miffybb

well, I have a Inno 90 and I found out that when placing a call, during the "please wait" menu pops up... the whole screen seemed to have froze or something... the only way is to open and close the flip in order to continue.
and for placing a call, yes the "please wait" menu is normal.. if u want to know if u're connected the person or not... maybe turn on the "notification bell" that goes "ding dong" so that u know if the call is being placed or not, that's what I did.. it was a default function once I got the phone.... that's the best way to know.
another issue I found is that, when the battery is nearly finished (or out of battery) there's something wrong with the screen... just like it only shows half the screen and then the screen blackens... does that happen to u ? I think it only happens when using the slim battery, because maybe the clip is just a little loose or something... hahha..
anyways.. see if u have this issue on u'r Inno 90 phone too.

Posted by: brianphung

i'll have to check about the battery thing... i just got the phone yesterday (or the day before yesterday, depending on when you think the next day starts, for me, its when the sun comes up... yes, pointless information, but oh well), so i havent had a chance to see the screen when the battery is nearly drained. i bought this phone because it sounded great on paper, but apparently is isnt all that. i guess maybe i should try a gx next... mmm, cg silicon...

Posted by: tw_1_n_star

lol DO NOT TRY GX.. unless itz the gx30... the camera lags so badly on the gx22... refresh rate is really bad... also there is no active flip for this fone... so there's like no point of picture caller id on the external screen since u gotta flip open then push a button anyways... and another bad thing... u can't close the flip to take pictures like on ur e715.... pretty bad AND overpriced/overrated phone in my opinion

Posted by: tw_1_n_star

btw... so basically all inno's, after u dial a number and itz about to connect.. u can't push the hang up key but u HAVE to close the flip? =/... is there anything else wrong with this fone? like MAJOR design flaws.. not something like "there's no sepia effect for camer" like someone said b4 lol

my inno 90 does not have the "please wait" problem

as soon as i dial a number - it just shows the number i dial and the picture i inputted - if there is no group - it just says "no group" at the bottom of the screen

also - i can hang up at any time - no need to close the flip

i could either do it by pressing the red end button - or by pressing the select button under where it says "end"

i dont know if its just a defect in your phone - or maybe if a whole batch of them were like this

i just got mine a few weeks ago...if that helps at all...

Posted by: tw_1_n_star

could this problem be only a firmware problem? like u might be able to fix if u ever can find the newer firmware?... well itz gunna be hard newayz cuz inno's aren't as popular as other brands =/

Posted by: Kricket

yeah - im not too sure on innostream cs - i sent them an email before i bought the phone - about 2 months ago - asking them about firmware upgrades...

...they have yet to get back to me...

Posted by: brianphung

ive heard that the innostream cable can only transfer games and ringtones... but thats just a software thing. then again, are there any programs available to the inno to hack/modify the firmware? because im getting my cable soon, and if i can fix this hangup problem, ill be quite satisfied... i mean, seriously, this is a problem with the fundamental features of the phone, which should have been first priority. i suppose i can say that the other features are somewhat well implemented, but the camera and the settings thing isnt really my style.

i just got mine two days ago, but i might have gotten the bad bunch as well... since i got my e715, it seems that i dont have much luck with flip phones. the v400 i tried was a dud, inno has probs... thats why i wanna check out t630 or better next, its a candy bar! back to my cell phone roots... haha .

@tw_1_n_star: the reason why ive wanted to try the gx is because i dont mind not having active flip, and even if the camera lags, the pictures it takes are awesome quality. also, ive only had the phone for a couple of days, but i have to say that the only other major design issue ive found so far is that when you take pictures on the external screen you have to flip the phone upside down... can anyone figure out that one?

Posted by: Kricket

if you just got it two days ago - i would take it back to where you got it

i mean - even most ebayers who sell that phone offer some sort of exchange for defective phones

i would just argue my butt off - you prolly spent around three bills on that phone and its just a rip off if you have to deal with something annoying like that - especially if its not something inherent with every inno 90...you know?

here i go - ranting and raving again...

I just got mine today and when i dial a number, it doesn't say please wait or anything of that sort... it just shows the name if its in the phonebook and no group below.

I can end the call by just pressing the end call button. I think that it's a software flaw, just like the one posted by another person. I hope u guys can still return it though...

I have an issue: Can this phone send phone numbers via sms or business card? I can't seem to find out how to send numbers other than copying the number on a piece of paper and manually typing it... it's a hassle... i used to own a v200 and at least there was an insert feature with that phone.. i can't seem to find one in the Inno 90.

While it's connecting, not when it's calling.

I can drop the call by just pressing the 'end button" even while its connecting. There's no message "please wait".

Posted by: tw_1_n_star

guess itz only the first batch that was released or just some of the defects that do that... probably same thing as the crack on the v600... only some have and the first batch has a higher chance of getting that crack

Posted by: braindead5400

when I try to disconnect a call, it just says call aborted without problem, I tried it at different intervals after placing the call and got no problems out of it. Most of the problems that I have heard of the phone from keys lags to dust, I have yet to experience.

I have a Chinese Inno 90 from HK and I have no problems with the phone so far. Most of the new Chinese Innostreams have the smaller firmware issues fixed. The phones which have the most problems are the English model phones, and the first Chinese generation phones which were imported into North America.

Unfortunately, the English model phones are the last on the supply chain and due to Innostreams non-presents in the English market, they are the last in line to get updates or fix's (if at all). The Chinese market is their target market, and that’s why they are much quicker to include fix's in the new Chinese models of the phone. There are much less issues in the new Chinese Inno 90's.

The first Generation phones (English and Chinese) are the ones which have the most problems. These phones do strange things like Lockup during voice recording, Hangs during some parts of games, Refuses to enter some menus, and a host of other things.
A lot of the newer Chinese phones don't have any of these issues, or develop them much less frequently. The only reason it seems some people with Chinese phones have equally the same amount of problems is because they purchased a first generation phone from someone who imported it (An older revision).

If you have a phone with those problems you should get it replaced. If the firmware gets really locked up, you'll end up with a dead phone.

I like my english version no probs at all

Posted by: brianphung

sounds like i did get a slightly defective phone... darn. well, if it screws up to the point where its unbearable... then i guess ill have to give my seller some hell, lol. i dont really want to do it though, cuz hes a friend of mine who already helped me with my other phone. anyways, to get back on the point, is there any way to get updated firmware? cuz if there is, it would help me (and im sure others as well) alot, especially since im getting the data cable this week hopefully .

Posted by: gackt

i got mine today.
made few calls, had no problem at all.

btw, does inno 90 support MP3 format tones? if yes, how do i transfer the toones (or any other files) to my phone?

Posted by: ataq

yes it does, you need the data cable and software to trim the mp3. then via data cable put into phones file. there are a lot of small steps needed but you'll find all that out when you get your data cable.

Hi Guys,

I just got my Inno 90 today, I love it so far except that i noticed that i'm getting the Please Wait message also, did you guys figure out if there was a way to fix this or is this just a defective phone?

Thanks.

for some reason - some of the phones do that

we figured that it was a firmware problem but youre the perfect test for that theory seeing as you just got your phone

type *888*888# and select sw version and let us know when your firmware was loaded and what version it is ie "B2....." or whatever it is

my software version if from dec 30 2003 and i dont happen to have that problem

but - unfortunately - i dont think anyone anyones figured out the remedy for that problem

Posted by: thehabs24

I just checked the Firware version and it says this:

Feb 19 2004
00:10:29
B21EB181A

So I guess its a new firware version, should I demand a new phone from the seller? I think this might be the american version phone that I got. I noticed that you guys said the chinese one is better. But I'm not sure. What to do??

Posted by: Kricket

i dont know what to tell you - i know that there are phones with newer software versions (from sometime in march) but that doesnt guarantee that you wont get that problem

like i said - mine is from december and i have the english version - but i dont have any of those problems

im with tmobile in chicago - maybe the carrier has something to do with it

if you bought it from a place that allows exchanges - i would say go for it - you cant go wrong right?

if you get another phone with the same problem - then im at a loss...

Mine is exact same S/W but doesn't have that problem. It's also the American version too =/ Don't know why yours has it. But it's no big deal. Just close the flip if you want to hang up while trying to connect a call.

Posted by: thehabs24

Yeah I guess its not too bad. I was wondering if it might be a Rogers thing...what service provider are you with?

Posted by: tw_1_n_star

I'm currently using Fido but I wouldn't mind testing Rogers with it since I still have the Sim and a bit of airtime left for it. I'll get back to you with it when my dad gets back wtih me with my phone (lent my phone to him for a day)

I've just did some testing with my Inno90.. when I place the call.... it does say "please wait" and then when it's connected it'll turn into the pink screen with the number listed there..
if the call placed was lesser than 5 seconds.. it would just say "please wait" and probably u'll have to wait like another 5-10 seconds for that screen to turn off.. otherwise .. if the call placed was greater or equal to 5 seconds, it will just disconnect when u press the end button...

Ah sorry, I just remembered I had to test it. When I get home and can get my Rogers sim I'll test this out right away to see if it's Rogers or not
