M55 Wave files

So i stumbled upon a wave file of hey ya and uploaded it to my m55 and it works perfectly, its like listening to the radio. so now this is my question.
Can i make an song into a wav ringtone? i tried it with one song, i used Sound forge to take a 30 second clip of a song i want, i saved it as wave file and uploaded it. it worked but is just noise, what am i doing wrong?

m55 can only play wav files of 1 channel, 16000hz IMA_ADPCM encoding 16 bit words.
you can download a converter that will convert most all wav files to the appropriate format here http://www.redsun.ee/tarmo/index.php?p=0

u can also use winamp, it'll convert ure mp3s to the proper wav format too, then just use the windows sound recorder to shorten the song.
