I had an opportunity today to actually play with a prototype of the 4900. It is saweeeet!

One of the most striking features is the 4,096 color display. The richness of the color was amazing for a small screen. The main menu graphic is like an animated wheel that "spins" to the option of choice. Unfortunately once you make a selection you are back to the menu style of the 5150.

The speaker is louder and clearer than the 4700, missing much of the distortion at higher volume levels than its predecessor.

One other notable difference is the size. It is shorter and thinner than the 4500/4700 but is wider. It also feels somewhat lighter. It has a very nice silver finish and the 4900 is 3G Voice and Data capable.

Did you test the speakerphone? How about the ringer(volume, MIDI engine, etc.) Please, do tell!!

Speaker is great. Crisp and clear with no distortion. The bass even sounds decent!

Ringers sound awesome! At least 16 note polyphonic.

As for everything else, that's really all I had time for. I'll try to find out more very soon.

where did you get to see it? i am going to a mysterious sprint pcs meeting day after tomorrow that my sprint rep will not give me details about, i hope we get to see some new phones.
