Can someone please tell me how to get my phone to stop beeping when it switches to roaming? I tried turning the ringer volume to vibrate, and that doesn't work, and I can't seem to find a way to directly access roaming alert settings.

This is really annoying as I've been in 2 different movie theaters miles away from each other in the middle of Phoenix, and my phone will keep constantly beeping as I'm sitting there as it finds and loses the network.

One other question? Is there a way to manually activate the backlight on the outside LCD? I'd like to just get the time sometimes at night, but would like to do it without having to open the phone.

go to settings

and service is the first option, turn it off

to activate the backlight on the external lcd turn off your side key guard and when ever you hit the volume key the back light will turn on but the phone won't actually change your ringer volume setting

i have mine set to vibrate for everything. my ringer is always set to either vibrate or high+vibrate.
