If so can someone tell me how i could change it to something higher maybe 1900? or something else.....? |

Originally posted by flipflash77 There are no standards for how much each "bar" of signal on a phone equates to actual reception. The fact that your P900 jumps around so much could just mean that it refreshes it's display a lot more frequently, whereas the T720 does not refresh as often or perhaps even shows you an average signal strength for the past minute or something like that. Bars are not a good indicator for true signal strength (in fact, bars can mean a variety of different things within the same manufacturer's entire line of phones). The only true indicator of signal strength would be if your phone could tell you the ASU or dBm of the current signal. If you live in North America, the P900 only works on one frequency/band. While your phone is 900/1800/1900, only the 1900 band exists in North America, so there's no band you could change to. Yes, 850 does exist in some places, but the P900 doesn't support it anyway. If you live in other parts of the world which use 900 or 1800 Mhz, then your carrier will likely use one or the other, occassionally both. GSM 1900 doesn't exist in countries that use 900 or 1800. You can't force yourself onto a different frequency unless your carrier runs on that frequency. Moral of the story, if you have signal, the phone can make/take a call, GPRS is working, and the phone doesn't drop calls, then your signal is fine. Bars are just bars. |
