Which store is that? no luck here in LA, i've called different Verizon stores and they all say not until Friday, yet they have a newsletter on their site that the Slider is ready for immediate release, it's not on their web site either.

I am from Boston MA. I happened to walk into the store today and lwo and behold ther eit was. It had no price on it on the display yet, in fact the tech guys in the back were playing around with one of them when i came in. I decided what the hell I'll pick one up. So far I like it but i have only had it for a couple hours.

I would assume so since it has brew and I believe that you can download games from get it now. But if the games are phone specific then they might not release any for awhile because the phone is new

Got one here in Burbank, CA.

The phone is solid and I like the screen better than my 4500 and a530, but the reception is sketchy at best. Not to mention I hate the stupid antenna.

It probably won't make it past the 15 day return policy.

Quit hatin on the slider!!! j/k but the slider really is a great phone. I havent had the opp. to mess with the Verizon slider but I cant wait.

I'm not hatin' on it...I actually love the look and the functionality of the phone.

In fact, the speakerphone is better than that of the 4500 too. It's a nice phone, it's the reception and the antenna that are bothering me right now. If that doesn't improve, it just won't work for me.

I live in the LA market and got mine yesterday. I guess some stores have it and others don't. I live within 10 minutes of four corporate retail stores and they all have them in stock but they said they are selling like hot cakes. I'm glad Verizon got a really cool looking solid phone with lots of features. I live in a area with a lot of towers so reception so far seems great. I haven't had a chance to test it in marginal areas yet.

Got the slider for free from Verizon and its not a bad phone. Just something to use till the better phones come out with verizon probably sometime next year. I like the slide feature better than flipping the phone to answer. The speakerphone is pretty good and the reception is better than LG 3100 that i was using before. And getting it free from Verizon you really cant beat that.

Got mine for $49.99 plus tax of the original price which came to $70.62 thru a 2 year contract(not mine, mom's)
The reason for the lower price was because i chose to get the phone without the accessory package which they try to sneak in there as a package deal, but i told the rep that the price of the phone was different on their newsletter, $49.99 after a $50 rebate, which i got instantly, so if you want to save a few bucks buy the phone without the accessory package.

First look: So far the phone looks very sleek, i like the silver color version the best in my humble opinion, display is nice it's only about 62k so don't expected it to look like the 6k, lights on the keypad are nice and bright, the keypads are small so it takes some getting used to but not as bad as i thought they were going to be, ringtones actually sound pretty good compared to the LG's, and are just as loud, menu user interface is fairly easy to use.

Overall i'm happy with it, i've been watching out for my signal since i hit a few "no service" spots today that i normally would not get with my 6K.

I noticed on the phone's info my PRL does not show, i updated with *228 and still is not showing, anyone else?

Now, how do we set up "Free Wap" on this thing?

That's exactly my concern...my 4500 does a lot better in the RF department...which is a big deal.

Like I said previously...the Slider likely won't make it past the 15 day period.

free wap was for virgin users only and now even new virgin costumers wont be able to get free wap unless verizon flashing the phone works

I wish the employees at the verizon store would of been as accomodating as they were for you. I went last night to pick up the the phone and printed out a copy of the press release, but they would not honor the rebate. I was about to just pay the 100 dollars, but then I got a little frustrated since the guy actually pulled up the press release on his computer and would still not honor it. I decided not to buy it out of principle. I mean if you advertise it, you should honor it. I am just tired of this darn Moto T-720 if had for the past two years which I can't seem to get rid off, which has a major problem with the battery. The funny thing is that I asked them if they carried batteries for the T-720 and the sales rep and manager said sure they're 49.99.....LOL

I don't blame you, you had a copy of the newsletter with you.
Try a different store, some (not all) of those reps can be harheaded sometimes, like i said, when the rep told me the price, i immediately told him that that's not what their newsletter said,
i also brought up Ms Brenda Raney's name, she's an exectuive at Verizon, i believe she's the one the wrote the newsletter, i sent her an e-mail because i was having a hard time finding a store that was actually selling the Slider on March 9 here in LA, and she had a store rep get in touch with me but i had already bought the Slider at the Glendale Galleria store.
So anyways you might want to bring up the same name if they don't want to honor it, it might help.

Thanks for the advice, but I called customer service this morning and they told me they won't honor a rebate until Monday March 15. She said it was a typo on the press release, which has been corrected if you look online. It now reads valid for purchases March 15-April XX , 2004. So I will have to wait until Monday before I can take advantage of the rebate, which i hope its an instant rebate as opposed to a mail in rebate. Regardless I will pick up the phone on Monday.

Well i guess i got a got lucky, $99 is still not a bad price though.

I guess I got lucky, went to my 2nd most local VZW store (my old one just got on my nerves), and ended up getting the Slider for $49.99 plus tax. They gave me the rebate instantly with the 2 year price, so it was all good for me. The phone has been great so far, reception is decent, but the real test will be when I go driving to my normal destinations this weekend if it holds up.

My has covered me where my 6K does so far.
I got a reading of -70 db signal thru my debug menu, not bad imo.
