T68m Lost Signal Completely

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello,
maybe someone can help me. I put a new faceplate, housing, and battery cover on my T68m, which was working fine.

In so doing at one point I bent the plastic like internal antenna sheet, but once reassembled the unit work fine for a while, would pull in TMobile OK.

Then, little by little it started to lose its ability to pull in a signal until it was very very weak (I thought it was sunspot activity at first), and then finally it couldn't hold the signal at all, just says no network. It does this whether I use a TMobile SIM or an ATT SIM as it is unlocked, so it is not the carrier or the SIMs, which work fine in other phones.

It is as if its ability to hold the signal just seeped out of it gradually over a couple of days. It was not dropped, and it worked ok at first upon reassembling.

I've bought and installed a new battery. No difference. Did a Master Reset, no difference. Bought a new antenna sheet. No difference.

It is almost like something happened to the software . . . .

Any help?

Gil

Well gil, I'm sorry that I don't have anything to say about fixing your problem, but if it makes you feel any better, the same thing just happened to me yesterday too!

Changed housings, and while reception was okay at first, I had to open the case back up to fix some keypad alignment issues...after that, I discovered that 2 of the housing screws were stripped...phone still powers up and eventually finds the network, but reception has gone completely to hell (no signal at all when I used to have no problem).

(this originally was a second-hand phone, I was giving it probably its 3rd housing)

Doh!!!! Is the phone SOL or not?

(I'm sure someone must have experienced this before, but I'm not finding much by doing a Hofo search)....

Can anyone help gjgall and me out?

Have you ensured that the antenna is securely attached to the plastic on the housing?

When the housing on my phone was first changed, we just left the antenna partially attached (using whatever was leftover from the original adhesive used).

That didn't work so well.

Just went back to the store that did it for me (I need to get a T-6 screwdriver for myself...) and we used some small pieces of double-sided tape to securely reattach the antenna. It works much better now.

Now, if only there was some way to keep the "3" key from sticking...
