Anyone selling an unused VM Slider programed for Verizon?

Posted by: Devilish

You can buy a brand new one from your local Target store or any Virgin Mega stores for $140.00

Let me know if you need anything else.

no he said the Verizon one, not the Virgin one.

And I don't think anyone wants to sell theirs just yet. Try eBay though.

Well the actual Verizon slider on EBAY was sold at $255 on Ebay and the close of auction was on the day VZW released their slider (March 9th).

Here is the link for that auction.

Yes you can try to buy a VM slider on Ebay for about $80 - $110 and I have seen them selling but they were used.

Good Luck

yeah, he meant a Virgin Mobile Slider re-programmed for Verizon Wireless.

I found a method for reprogramming a VM slider for Verizon. Has anyone tried this? Does it yield a fully functional Verizon phone? Does everything work?

Here is what was posted:

This works for a brand new, never activated Virgin Mobile V5 slider...

Log onto verizonwireless.com and enter in the new ESN

111111 [OK]

Programming [OK]
Enter Secuirity Code: 868666 [OK]

Srvc Sec. Code [OK]
change 868666 --> 000000 [OK]
[BACK]

Verizon needs it to be 000000 so that you can do Over The Air programming and PRL update. Remember to use 000000 and not 868666 as the SVC code next time you go back into this programming screen.

(NAM2 is used by Verizon, might need to enter the following info for NAM1 also):

NAM2 Info [OK]
MIN [OK]
[BACK 10 times to delete] 0000000658 --> 10-digits phone num [OK]
check MDN, should be the same
Home SID [OK]
find out your home SID from http://www.bridog.net/cellular/sid.txt
drop the leading 0's, ie 00030 -> 30
Extra NAM Info [OK]
CDMA NAM Info [OK]
Home SID/NID [OK]
enter in the same SID as above for both SID and NID

exit programming screen, press hang up

now dial *22801 option 1 to activate with verizon, it'll also update the PRL

now verify your PRL
##786 [TALK]
Verizon's PRL should show 42xxx, 50xxx, or 52xxx
Sprint PRL is 10xxx

not sure about roaming, but home service works just fine thank you.

Works great with no problem. The only thing is that you can not use GET IT NOW unless the phone is flashed by VZW.

I wont use GET IT NOW anyhow! That is great, so roaming, all notifications, etc all work fine?

Edit:
Btw, Thanks for the info. I guess i'll buy one from ebay and try it. It is almost $100 difference between the VM and Verizon versions!

Devilish,

I'd like to ask you another question. I understand that after setting the phone up for Verizon it will still have the VM software etc on it. Is there any downside to this? What would happen if someone selected to buy minutes after setting it up under Verizon for example?

Also, what is the reason that the phone has to be brand new, never activated?

Thanks

I have a VM slider on Verizon already, I am looking for a second one for a friend and wanted to get it less than the $139 that VM sells them for. To answer your question cratos, I have not found any downside to having the VM software on the phone. As to why it has to be unused I do believe once it is activated the MSL code changes and you need to set the MSL to 0000000 so the Verizon can program it OTA (over the air).

Notifications work fine, but you will not have an Enhanced Roaming Indicator. In other words you don't get the 'D', blinking-'R' and solid-'R' notification pattern you may be used to with other Verizon phones. I'm talking the pattern, not the icons. If you are in your home area you are probably seeing a 'D' indicated.

I've left my home area and had everything work fine but have yet to go into an Extended Area or Roaming Area to see what the indicator does.

Great news I suppose ... anyone tried it on an already active phone? and are you saying this will work with VM top-up minutes? or do you need to use the verizon prepaid ... or must you get a plan? more more more lets hear more!!

BTW how do you get to the screen to put all these great numbers in?

I dont know about your other questions but just follow the directions in the post to get to the programming screen. To answer your question more specifically, 111111 then pres OK will get you started.

OK im finally doing this. I just have a couple of questions. At one point it says to get your SID from http://www.bridog.net/cellular/sid.txt but when i look on my gf's phone the SID is different. Should I use the one on my gfs phone or from the website?

Posted by: cratos

Ok I have my VM phone working with Verizon and I have a couple of comments.

First, the directions tell you to edit NAM2. By default my phone was set to use NAM1, I am assuming, because it didnt work. This setting is usually in the system section but isnt on these VM phones. My phone just kept saying "searching... " after following the directions posted.

The SID listed on the website (http://www.bridog.net/cellular/sid.txt) for Boston was 28, The one on my gf's phone was 482. I tried both of these and there was no change. Still "searching...".

Then, I set up NAM1 using the SID: 482. As soon as my phone reset, I was in digital signal. I can make calls, send txt, recieve txt, etc. So it seems that NAM1 is the one you want to edit. I am not sure if the SID from the site works or not and what impact if any it has if indeed it does work.
