Here's a mini-review of the 7135:

If it's a solid performer as a phone--like most of kyocera's phones are--I think this one will be a winner.

how much do you think this thing will go for? $500?
anybody have any clues as to when it might be released?

I'd say this baby will retail for about $499 USD, or about $900 CDN. It's basically the Palm m515, mp3 player, and phone included into one slick device.
As well, Kyocera says that it will be released at the beginning of Q4 2002. So about October/November of 2002. Only 4 more months or so 'til we get to see this thing!
I'm sooo going to upgrade my Nokia 8890 to this thing. I carry my Palm m505 EVERYWHERE, and it's a hassle to always update either the Palm or the 8890 whenever I get a new or edit an existing number.

I work right next to Qualcomm and Kyocera here in SD, and I met some Kyocera engineers a while back during lunch. Well, one of them brought a 7135 with him, and I got to play with it a little. He said there were 2 more hw revs to go, even so, the external appearance looks very good. It looked like a phone that is off the shelf. I played an mp3 on it, but the speaker is not loud enough, so you'll probably want to use ear buds. The accessory connector looks like the same one on my 2235. He also said that with the desktop sync software, you can use mp3's for you ringtones. I wasn't able to use the built-in html or wap browser, so can't say much about that (problems with the VZ account it was using).
