Originally posted by inothome I had tried the LG VX6000 USB cable on my Slider and it DID NOT work, I also tried the same cable on a LG VX4500 and it did not work either. I bought the Kyocera USB cable for the slider and it works on all 3 phones. The LG USB cable is a true USB cable, the silder and vx4500 suposedly do not suppoprt USB. The Kyocera cable has a USB to serial converter in the cord and all three phones support serial communications. My LG cable did have the lump in the cable as does the Kyocera cable but it must not be a converter on the LG cable, it must be just to alow a charger to hook up to it. I also noticed transfering data was slower using the Kyocera cable on the VX6000 then the LG cable was, I would have to say this is because of the slower data rate with the serial protocol. |
I don't quite follow some of your thoughts there, but to clear at least one thing up....the 'lump' on the kyocera cable is a filter, it has nothing to do with the cable being usb or serial. It could be removed and the cable would work just the same. In fact, we have 2 kyocera cables in my office, one serial and one usb that don't have the filter. The serial cable I have does have it.
