How to tell if my GU87 is unlocked or not?

I got my GU87 awhile back, and am ready to bring it with me to use on an upcoming Asia trip. How can I tell if my phone is unlocked or not? When I bought it back then, I was told that it was already unlocked. Is there a way for me to tell?

sure, pop in a cingular or t mobile sim card, if it does not say invalid screen and you can access the menu, its unlock

Thanks. But unfortunately I do not have access to a Cingular or other carrier's sim card...

I think if you type in 746 menu menu, it will give you the sim lock menu, if you have to enter any codes then the mobile is locked. Mine was an unlocked 87 and you could not enter any of the sub-menus on that screen. Been a while since I had an 87 but that is my memory about it anyway. I think you can search on that in this forum for more info. I found at least one other thread on the subject.

So I guess what you are saying is that if after 746 menu menu I can see the five sub menus (SIM, Network, Sub-Network, ServiceProvider, Corporate) then it is unlocked? Whereas if I need to enter some kind of passcode then it isn't? If this is correct, then I think mine is unlocked!
