There are a lot of threads that talk about flashing the slider with a verizon one. What is that exactly? What do they do to the phone?

I'm was asking because I (like everyone else) would like to find a way to make the internet on the sliders better. I want to ask some of the people at the Verizon stores if they could do it. But, if they ask me what I'm talking about, I'd like to be able to tell them.

Flashing would make the VM Slider behave like the Verizon Slider. Instead of seeing menu options for buying minutes, etc on the VM Slider you'd see whatever menu options the Verizon version has, like Get It Now. Other differences would include an Enhanced Roaming Indicator. The Doodler program is under a "Media" menu rather than under the "Games" menu. Stuff like that.

So, how would you flash it? Would you need to have a data cable or USB, get all the information off of your computer about the Verizon software, then put it in the Slider? Or what?

Sorry, if I'm annoying anyone. I'm just really curious about how you'd do it.

You need to take your phone to a VZW store and ask them to flash your phone with their S/w. But it does not been theywill do it. Or you can call the store near where you are and ask them if they will flash the phone for you.

is there a way to just download the software or do you have to do it at a verizon store and do they charge????

Tell them you are a big fan of buying games and ringtones over Get It Now... you won't be able to do that without their saftware update.

u can tell them that u had ur phone unlocked and u have verizon service but u want the software to complete it
