I have a Sanyo SCP-4000 that I was using on a sprint account last year. I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is a CDMA phone. And if it is, is there anyway it could be unlocked so that I could use it with Verizon.

Thanks

Yes, it IS a CDMA handset.

If your 4000 is from Sprint, you need to get the Master Lock Code from Sprint to unlock your 4000

Thanks, Do you think the local store would have that, or would it be availible online somewhere? From my experience with the local store they probably wouldn't now what I was talking about.

Thanks Again

Your "best" bet if to call customer service. I should warn you however that "most" reps are wary of providing you the code.

I think both Canada and US should have some legislation banning the cell phone service providers locking the phones in order to promote fairer competition. Maybe someone should start a class action against these providers.

An easier way to get the code is to call customer service and tell them that you need to you need to reprogram your phone. They will walk you through the steps of doing this, and in doing so will provide you with the code that you require! Of course you need to have service with sprint!

Another issue that you may face is that the phones Roam list may not get upgraded by Verizon, so your phone will not be able to find all the towers when you start using it with Verizon! Keep that in mind!

is you are lucky because the phone support otasp (over the air provisioning) and they are less and less releasing sublocks for the phones

They won't give you the MSL. Period. They will give the SPC, which may work. The problem is, however, that Verizon probably doesn't have a PRL for the phone, so it basically won't work. If you happen to get the MSL by some weird quirk of fate, please post it on the board.
