hey whats up, im a newbie on this site...
sorry if this is a dumb question, but i just got this phone yesterday.. anyways, what's that bullseye looking thing on my phone.. its always on the screen..
thanks!
ps. any cool tips on the phone, features on the phone would be cool too! thank you so much!

The bullseye is the GPS indicator. If it has a line through it, then GPS location is disabled. If it is just the bullseye, then it is enabled.
(I wondered the same thing when I first got my 5300.)

i always leave the "location" indicator on.. whats the advantage of leavin it on? are there services that will give you directions from your current GPS "locatoin" that you are at? or is it just for emergency purpose only?

Sprint claims if you turn location on it will allow the network to detect your position making some applications easier to use.

specifically, I have never run across ANY application requiring this be "on"...it's a futures thing...but for now, there are no applications available requiring this

I wish we could take advantage of the location thing, but as it stands, 911 can't even take advantage of it cuz the cities allocated the money to upgrade their equipment to be GPS capable blew that money on other things.

yea i read about that. Esp. in New york where i live. I'm pissed cause i'm paying extra money for something that is not happening.

So it uses battery to leave it on? I didn't realize that. Does it have to constantly send out or receive a signal or something?

If the symbol would disappear when you turned it off, then I would do so. But when off it remains the same, just crossed out, which is even more of a distraction.

Hey, sorry about that. I'm not sure why it showed up three times.
