Extended battery for VM4500

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I was just wondering if the extended battery for the RL2500 will work on the VM4500. I ask this because I have a silver VM4500 and all the batteries I can find are in the standard blue color and the RL2500 only comes in silver. Will it work? Thanks

They are should work--I have found the x-battery on ebay whichis avial both for hter 5400and the 5500 to be a great battery for the price--come in both colors.

Yeah I gotta say the VM4500 extended battery is *nice*... I seem to get more than the 5 hours of rated talk time with it. Going from a 5300 with an extended battery, the regular bat. seems a little less than that, but the extended seems much more. That and the VM4500 with extended bat. fits nice in the clear Radio Shack holster.

does the extended battery fit inside the standard phone clip from sprint?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (MobilePhone SCP-5500/US/1.0) NetFront/3.0 MMP/2.0)

i'm going to get mine off of ebay. BTW This response was done from my vm 4500!

Yes, it fits perfectly with no gaps. Be careful with that SPCS holster, it takes the paint off of the phone.

Is the thickness that much of a difference?

IMO, I think it adds quite a difference to the size and weight. It felt kinda nice in my hands, but I didn't like to place it in my pocket because it was a lot bigger. Since the Standard battery wouldn't last me more than half a day, I have to deal with the bulkiness. If I get the time I'll try and post some pics.

If you can deal with the extended battery on the 5300, you'll have no trouble with the 4500... having both, I'd say the 4500 extended is actually a bit more contoured and not like the "square chunk on the back of your phone" like the 5300's is. It's even a bit larger, but doesn't feel like it. As for the holster, look into the Radio Shack one... it doesn't scratch your paint, clips nicely, and the best part is you can unclip it with the phone still attached and use the clip as a way to shoulder it while talking.

Would anybody here recommend buying an extended battery from ebay? Are they sanyo or some off brand? 59.99 versus 9.99 is a pretty big gap...

If it's a reputable dealer, they should tell you the brand. If you have any doubts, contact the seller. I've seem them pretty cheap, but I would also be wary. Just email the seller any questions you have.

i bought one of the x batteries (ebay)for my 5400 in november, at that time it was the only one I could find--and it was less than $10--I found it to be a great improvement over the original oem std battery--however, now the battery is now about 4 months old and I find the *total useable and standby* time not equal to the oem ext battery I have for my 5300--so the longevity may not be as good??? but this may be the difference in the phones, rather than the battery--but as you mentioned, the price difference is too great--I would still choose the $10 battery, even if it is slightly less the product as oem--I can buy two and still have a lot of change, and it is time to try anothe rphone anyway.

Did your 5300 seem to have a longer talk./standby time with the oem than the 4500??

That's along the same lines I was thinking. I loved using the extended battery on the 5300, not just because of the talktime, but it gave the phone a better feel. I'd hate to pay 60 bucks and find the same problem, I know batteries deteriorate some to an extent anyway.

I just got the extended battery for my VM4500 and I have to say it adds some size, but I can still slip the phone into the front pocket of my jeans. It's just a bit more noticeable and definitely a bit difficult to get out of the pocket if I'm sitting down.

I don't know yet how much more talk time I'll get out of it. I got three days on the standard battery with moderate usage...so we'll see. I gave it a full charge yesterday for the first time, so here we go...

Anybody have the 1400maH X-extended battery? Is it alot bigger than the regular 950maH extended battery? Does it fit the Sprint leather holster?

Have the x-battery--about double the thickness of the std battery--don;t know about the case--have had the x battery since december with daily use--no real problems, but I have also a 5300 with oem ext battery --the oem has better talk time than the 5500 x battery--not sure if its the difference is in the phone or the quality of the battery--but for less than $10 -it;s okay.--the 5300 will fit the oem sanyo case w/ no problem--didn;t get one for the 5500, as like someone else posted, makes the phone seem like a $300 egg. have several of the ebay cases, none of which stand out either.

I have a NEW SPRINT EXTENDED BATTERY, unopened in package.
(BLUE)

If your interested PM me. $45 firm.

Well, with moderate usage it looks like I get six days with the extended OEM battery that I bought at the Sprint store. Not bad at all. I don't think I'll go back to the standard battery unless I have to.
