I just got my 3300 not to long ago and I've been looking for a black faceplate for it. Ebay does stickers and the jay-z phone comes stock like that so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? If anyone needs free wallpapers and has a nokia phone, go to www.jhonny.org/wap. Thanks

whats that third place cerver? man but i do need some help. i got my 3300 today and i been playing with it. now everytime i press the right select button . the screen turns off then turns back on again? it's pissing this ×××× out of me mang? help?

i just remembered that mine used to do the same thing with my texts. i would try to read one and it would do that. it just fixed itself. but try the settings and the battery thing in my last post.

yo yo yo, cerver, thanks for replying. i bought the phone brand new off ebay. it's an at&t phone. still has all the accesories in the plastic, the sticker was still on the phone. and everythign was still new in the box. I unlocked it my self and now am using Tmobile on the 3300. iono what the hells the deal with this problem but it's very annoying. yesterday my phone fully died out. and i fully recharged it this morning but the phoen still does the flickering problem. it's not very fun. what is another way i should try to fix this problem. Ill try to mess with the setting. this is what i think happen first b4 igot the problem. under settings. of the phone you can choose Right selection key. i chose that and made it the shortcut menu. now everytime i try to go into it in settings the phone would shut off.. maybe that will help you help me.

i never had that problem.....i also didnt change the right key selection. im just guessing, but that might be a bug that is not fixable unless you get the firmware updated. to do that you either have to use the cable that you got with the phone and connect to pc using the nokia pc suite and get the flashing program to update the firmware yourself. the only other way is to call nokia and make an appointment with them to flash it thru them. they do charge a fee, but i dont know what that fee is. sorry. let me know if you can use this info. and ill try to ask some others to help us out with this problem. peace

i just tried to do what you did with the right select, making it shortcuts, but the only thing i have is go to. is that what you did? if thats it then ill try and do it too and we'll see what happens. let me know. peace

yeah yeah. cerver i changed mine to "go to" and it worked fine. for like the whole day. then at night the phone just started to twich it's not fun. but i guess i might be because i unlocked it. maybe. Thats why it started twitching. I dont know but ill try to find a way to flash it. i called nokia and they said just go online and get there adress and send the phone in. then they'll send me and evaluation for the phone and tell me the pricing then go on with the procedure. I was hoping for a faster way out. but i guess i jmight just have to send the phone to nokia. or is there any were i can get the phone flashed?

you could get the serial cable for the 3300 and flash it yourself. but i would rather go to the nokia store cause if they ×××× up then its on them, ya know? do some research on these forums and learn how to flash it if you wanna do it yourself. peace

true...it might save you money. i cut up one of those flashing lights things adn it still worked but i cant figure out how to fit it in there. the past that hooks to the battery, lays on the bottom of the phone. it looks ugly.

i just thought of something. if we cut two and take the screen off and get to the area under the buttons, maybe it will shine thru those holes and behind the actuall buttons. im gonna try it. ill post back.

CerVEr hows it been!! Man i sorta gave up on it too. I was thinking. if that little light pad that we are trying to cut up only lights up when we make a call or receive calls there is no point of putting it in. and pluse even if we figure out how to place it in the keypad has to be see through. I really like this phone too it has good reception. better than the last three phone i had. Yes, i saw under your profile that you did have that new phone. it seems kool though/...!!! holler at cha later

im still with the 3300! i got rid of the 9290. it SUCKED A$$. the 3300 is by far the best phone i have ever had. i gave up too man. but ill keep lookin for one made by someone. ill holla and let ya know.

im not having any luck with the faceplates made from aluminum. the holes for the buttons are to small for the router machie to make great cuts. the buttons dont fit right. im gonna keep trying but i dont think its gonna work.

my boss has one, and he seems to like it. i have used it before and its cool. i like the 3300 better though. get it and give it a shot.

ive posted a pros and cons post about the v400. doesn't sound that great. ill probably get the v600. it has alot more features

i would say the v600 too. thats what my friend has and he upgraded from the 400. he loves the 600. i would def. say thats the best move.

I had a Nokia 3300 for about a week. I had the exact same problem with the screen going blank. It did it at anytime, just go blank and sometimes come back, sometimes it would turn off completely.

I returned it for that reason and the no light up keyboard.

i just did some switchin wallpapers and it did the black screen thing. but i have the f/w flashed and it fixed the problem. i love my 3300 and it works great. as for the light up keypad, ill be making one soon or buying one soon. ill make it if i can.

I see alot of 3300 around now that ATT and Cingular have then so cheap. I know the worst thing is being out at night and having to dial numbers is low light is AWFUL. I thought of clear writing buttons. Kinda like what the 6800 has and putting in 2 extra leds. Also maybe use some reflective tape to bounce the light and give you a wider area to cover.

hey nokia 3300 owners.. i've never had that kind of problems whtih my 3300.. but i have another model it seems. anyways the 3300 is great! it served me well.. but i'm gonna sell it when the 7610 is coming out.. nah well nothing lasts forever.

I havent heard many people with the euro style 3300....which doesnt have the qwerty keyboard....Im in the states, does the keypad light up on your 3300?

jups it lights up.. with white light so its very clair. isnt it normal thet the keypad lights up anyway?

I dont know we dont have that style 3300. Ive seen it on the web, but never got to seeing it in the dark -)

I cant even imagine what Nokia was thinking when they made US version of the 3300. No light up keyboard is almost enough to make or break a phone for me.

Very I would of kept the phone if it lit up at night. Im a night owl and always out and about during the evenings. Trying to make a call in the back of a car at night is dam near impossible. Maybe for some you can feel your way around, but i have huge hands and fingers. I could barely type on a 6800 without pushing the buttons next to it.

If Nokia would of made the 3300 keyboard light up it would be one of the best phones on the market. It had decent RF, very nice features. The overall design of the phone is odd, but its not to bad to hold. I LOVE THE MP3 player and the earphones are somewhat decent. It comes with a patch cable already, love the over the ear headset it includes. Overall the phone is great....and for 100$ its a great choice for the price.

Yeah i agree typing without lights is nearly impossible.. unless you know how to write blindly or how do they call that in english.

its true that its a very good phone..the mp3 player is excellent. the headset is okay too although i had to buy a second one cause the first one broke.. but thats because i used it daily i guess.

and yes its a great phone for only 170 euros. nokia should make another one like this but then a series 60 phone

hummmmmmmmmmm.....i have an idea.....if i was to take a 3300 euro, and take out the circuit board with the leds and make my 3300 work to gether, i might have come up with light up leds/keypad for it. just an idea, ill look into it.

cause i like the full keyboard, i check my mail and browse hofo forums with my phone all the time. but your right, it will cost a lot. unless i get the phone off ebay. ill look into it.

i have to disagree cause it would light up around the buttons, and that would be an improvment to the 3300. besides the buttons are comming out soon anyway. cle3ar,red,blue, all colors, but the lightup keypad is a different story. nokia has said to me many times, in development forums, that the flashing keypad for the 3300 is gonna be very hard to design. i dont see how, the just take the same design and make it fit. not to complicated. but to make it so the part that touches the bettery, is not shown on the outside, is the hard part. i could find clear buttons if i wanted too. i have seen color buttons being flashed on sites as promos. they will be out very soon. the faces came out, next are batts that lite up, buttons that are diff. colors and then flashing ky pad. this is all my opinion and facts i have read on the net, so i could be wrong, and so could everything i have read. its late, im goning to bed. good nite yall

Where does the energy for the light bulb come from? If 2 is not enough to light up the keypad, u could get 4 or 6, or as many as you want, I'm sure you could get lightbulbs for cheap thats for sure.

they would not be actuall bulb, but more light bright LEDs very small bulb like lights. but i cant figure out how to place them inside the 3300. its not to easy.

very true. i think my friend that works at the cingular store by my house, can get me the internal diagram for the 3300. if he can, then i might be able to figure something out.

Hey everyone.. I just read this thread with interest as a new 3300 owner. THere is a decent selection of faceplates here:

THe transparent ones MIGHT have light-able qwert buttons, but of course the phone doesn't have the lights in the right places.

I opened the phone up today and had a look, and there is some good news and some bad news about the faceplates and lighting.

Bad: none of the letters show light through them so the existing buttons are no good for ever being lit up.

Good: The numbers (and other symbols) DO show light through! SO a hacked LED solution might work for at least using the numbers at night (which would be WAY better than the existing state of affairs).

Bad: There is not a lot of space underneat the plastic base of the keypad (the part with the holes in it that you see when you remove the keypad). I imagine it would be a nightmare to mount more tiny LEDs in there, let alone wire them to a power source inside the phone

I think some sort of light-pipe membrane would be a good idea.. one that you could cut to fit underneath the plastic, with holes for the buttons and for the LEDs. If anyone can find a really thin flat light pipe that can be cut easily, drop a link here and I might try to pick one up and experiment with it.
