LG VX6000 cable on the slider

Ok just to clear this up once and for all! 
Will it or won't it work with the slider?
I was sifting through the post and I did hear some people say its getting data reads so in theory this cable is working ... but no one said what software they were using .... or if the cable was serial or usb.
1)Are there two versions of this cable (serial and usb)?
2)Isn't GAGIN just for serial anyways?
3)Has anyone tried this with BitPim?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and see if I can't get my hands on one today b4 I head into to work. And do some testing on it.
