Kyocera blade keypad locking problem

I recently purchased a Kyocera Blade

It says to hold down the left scroll button to lock the keypad, but when i do that it says "feature unavailable"

Anyone know what I am doing wrong??

Are you trying to lock the keypad when the phone is plugged in?? That feature is disabled when it is plugged into the charging cable (as well as silent mode, I think)

It's the charging cable; my phone says the same thing when it's plugged in.

Key lock works fine when the phone is in silent mode.
