like any normal person, I put my phone in my pocket.

Phallax: you are a VERY critical person... I suggest you tone it down a tad or as in real life, you'll have no internet friends either.

don't you mean "criticizing"??

critical means urgent, like a "critical situation"

learn the english language, or you, like in real life, will sound ignorant.

I find it amauzing that you edited your post 2 minutes after you orignally posted it, most likely due to a gramatical error as well.

Also, please stop being an a s s , thank you.

My shirt pocket of course, easiest way for it to slip out on to the concrete.

I find it amusing the way you spell 'amusing'.

Also, I'm not being an a s s -- you said "any input is appreciated"

some help with what?

finding out what other people use to carry their cellphones?

why is this such a big deal?

Posted by: vap8900

Here's a reply that I posted in another forum:
>>>>>>>>>
I used the leather case for my 8900 for a few weeks... until it (or I) broke the phone. The cover for the flip part extends a little bit further than the keypad. Every once in a while the filp would get caught on something.... a jacket, sweatshirt, chair, etc. It eventually stressed my phone enough that it broke the connection between the keypad and the flip. The Case also does not allow the phone to close completely because you have two thin pieces of plastic sitting between the two halves.
<<<<<<<<<

Now I keep it in my pocket .

It wasn't a big deal until you came along.

And since we are being so critical, cell phone is two words, not one. It stands for "cellular phone". Now you know.

By the way djcluerec, I carry mine in my pocket. The belt holster just looks to flimsy for me to want to carry it with that.

whatever.

what a lame topic.

don't drop your phone, butterfingers.

Up here in Canada we use something called a Hydrofoam Pouch...

Check it out:

Which I'm sure numerous dealers down in the states carry...

It fits quite well, but they do tend to wear out and become a little loose after awhile (mine within 6 months, but that isn't too bad)...

yeah those are sold on ebay, but called "neo cases"

imy dad has one of those. it hugs the phone quite nicely, but it completely covers and muffled the speaker, so he gets about 20 missed calls per night...

A Blue Hydrofoam Pouch from Telus.

I do the ordering at my store - and for the Audiovox CDM-8900 I have 3 different options:
1: Tessco - Leather case - decent
2: Audiovox - Leather case - very nice (what I use)
3: Body Glove - Universal Small Pouch - Pretty nice made of neoprene - but since it is a pouch - it muffles the speaker

Don't know if this will hel any but that's all I got!!!!

i thought he was funny, i put in my pocket too. those holsters are bulky and lame.

I too found the OEM holster for the 8900 woefully inadequate.

The phone would fall out too easily, and it didn't provide any protection to the front surface of the phone.

I bought a HORIZONTAL leather pouch from these guys:

http://www.buycellfones.com/horizon...ther_pouch.html

I like the horizontal pouch for the following reasons:

1) Digs into your body less when you bend.
2) The leather is thick, and of good quality.
3) Available in either black or brown color.
4) Just personal preference, I think it looks better.

In addition, the pouch protects the entire phone when it is not in use. Also, I don't like the plastic material that covers the display and keypad with the other leather cases/covers available.

Hope this helps.

I was in the exact quandry you are....

I hated the button clip thing from my last phone.... I always felt it was slipping off.... so I was always worried that it would fall off and I would either break it or lose it.... and had to keep checking and repositioning it. It's not comfortable either.... so I never wore my cell phone. It seems it was always in the way. Consequently it just stayed in my car.

When I got my new phone I was determined I would find a secure way to wear the phone everywhere, from work, to stores, in the car, home, etc.

Although the plastic snap holster that came with it was an upgrade from the clip my last phone had I found it still wasn't secure enough... especially, to have to take it off every time you have to go the bathroom is a real pain.

I found an awesome horizontal cell phone holder from Brookstone.

I LOVE it. You can't even feel you're wearing a cell phone and you can attach the phone case to your belt so no matter what, the phone case cannot accidentally UNCLIP from your pants. I bought a soft leather braided (flexible) belt just for the cell case and wear that every day. Since I'm a girl, a lot of my pants don't have belt loops, so I'm just wearing that belt with the phone case... around my waist.... it's always within reach.

In addition, I feel the horizontal case is better because it's easier to take it out.

You may wonder why a girl doesn't carry her cell phone in her purse... there are many reasons.... first of all you can't hear it ring inside a purse. I don't bring my purse into work, I switch purses, run into a store, and certainly don't walk around with my purse inside my house.

The brookstone case even has an opening in the bottom so you can silence the phone quickly with the phone arrow button (actually even the camera button shuts it up). I like that feature.

In my research I have also discovered interesting cell phone chains one wears around there neck and also a little case one wears slung around their shoulder....

I am buying one of those too for dressier occasions.

I picked up two Cellet cases (blue and black) off of E-Bay recently. (See image here: http://www.wirelessground.com/cedeprca.html ). You can find them far cheaper on E-Bay than by simply searching the Internet.

Mine came with a Button Magnet Strap -- a short strap that wraps across the open-end (top) and fastens to the front using a small magnet. The magnet will sometimes affect the flip-closure of the phone -- makes the phone think it's open -- so I just turn the phone "backwards," and all's well.

The case can swivel, which allows horizontal holding. The swivel is not loose; it's firm -- so the case will not turn easily on its own.

The medium size fits the 8900 well. The smaller size may provide a tighter fit, but the large size would be too loose.

I have not noticed a loss of ringer volume. Sure... setting the volume to 2-3 may effectively be reduced to 1-2, but I usually have mine set at 4 and have not had any difficulties. If I'm driving with the windows rolled down, I just set it to vibrate.

I've been very happy with this case, and I'm now looking to obtain a silver one.

What would be ideal for me is a case that almost doubles as a faceplate as well. I'd like protection around the body of the phone from droppage but also can use all the phone's features (access to the external buttons and displays). Has anyone run accross anything like that? In fact I don't even care about being able to "wear" the case, I just want the protection and not have to remove it to make/answer calls.

BTW, this just arrived and exceeded my expectations. Fits like a leather glove and is well designed. Only thing I may not like is that it has the small round male end of the belt clip sewn into the back. I'll probably end up using it but even if not its not very obtrusive anyway.

Posted by: mnMark

acf - that looks like the same leather case that comes in the combo pack, minus the VZW logo on the front...that's the one I got when I bought my phone (granted, VZW corp store prices, unfortunately), and I love it.

The one thing I have to say, though it's the same issue with any case with a plastic sleeve, is that after talking a long time and/or having the phone warm the case is hard to get off without sliding something underneath to dislodge is from the phone.

Kinda like a hot day on leather seats ;-)

Posted by: acf

Yea, I've noticed that already...but then why take it off?

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the plastic "overlays". I didn't know it had it. Just more protection from my carelessness.

Posted by: Stealth Ninja

i use the leather case the phone comes with, i think the plastic films kinda stick together to help hold it close. plus the belt buckle thingy is really strong and I never drop it.

Posted by: acf

Your phone came with a leather case?

Posted by: first_of_many

I was just thinking about this the other day.

The leather is too much, weight and bulk, for me.

The belt holder that comes with the phone is well designed, and rotates a bit, BUT, the clip sticks out the top too much, so sitting/ in-out of car/ etc. can cause it to open and pop off. I found my phone on the ground outside the car the other day....

The best one Ive had was on my old Siemans phone, small, secure. It crimped a pattern in my belts, but it was worth it.

Posted by: sevenwords

when i bought mine from verizon (friday to be exact) the rep gave me a hands free kit, car charger, and leather case with belt clip for free.

the leather case was nice, but the part that fits over the screen was kind of akward. where they sewed the plastic covering over the screen to the leather, it hurts your ear when you use it and of couse, has a big verizon logo on it. I just took the screen cover off and just use the leather part for the keys so it still looks god and i can use the belt clip.

Posted by: acf

Gotcha, that's a good deal. I really need a car charger...

Guess the fact I bought it 3rd party keeps the logo off it.
