nokia IRDA functioning?

im thinking of purchasing a nokia 7210, but i've heard that the IRDA's on some nokia phones tend to malfuntion or not function at all. Is it true for all nokias. How is the 7210 in terms of IR.

The IR on 7210 is "crippled", meaning that you will only be able to send/receive Business card (phone number) and calender notes via IR to another mobile/pda, not pics and tones. To transfer pics/tones you will have to use your PC.

like trekker said, to send tones, pics and games you need to download nokia pc suite available @ nokia.com

ahh I was wondering the same thing. I just bought 6102 (first Nokia ever), and the IR does not want to work.

Nokia has got a problem with IRDA's in some of their phones ... and now they have stopped providing IR in their latest mobiles...

I've got a t-mobile 6101 and i finally got the Irda to work as far as transferring pictures from phone to phone. Haven't got an irda adapter yet for computer, and don't know how cingular may be different, but 6101 is capable.
