Help!
I just picked up my T616 less than 1 week ago. Sometime between last night and this morning the 4 main function buttons and the joystick (the 4 buttons surrounding the joystick) have stopped working! The keypad still works, as do the volume/status buttons. I don't believe that the snapshot button works tho. =\

I've tried removing the battery, but to no avail. How does one reset the phone? Unfortunately I don't have my owner's manual with me right now.

Any help is appreciated.

Thx
Elie

1. Go to your desktop

2. Go to Settings

3. Go to Master Reset

4. Reset all (or just the settings if you want)

5. Yes to continue

That's to reset the phone. As for the buttons, have you ever opened your phone? Perhaps the buttons aren't sitting right. In any event, that's how to reset.

Same thing happened to mine, and i just got it yesterday.

I can't access any of the menus as the function buttons no longer work. Only the keypad works.

The phone is brand new, never been opened/dropped.

The manual doesn't say a lot. According to it, the only way to get to the menu screen is to either press down the joystick or press right the joystick.

However, if you are any luck reach the menu screen, you can press # and it will brings you to the "Setting" page.

Otherwise, as they say, your nearest SE service point...

I apologize, I mis-read, thought the joystick still worked. Yep no other way to reset without the joystick, ^ he said the # key, but didn't work for me =( So as ^ he said again, nearest service point

by pressing # i mean, if somehow you are in the menu (desktop), pressing # will get you to the "Setting". But again, he couldn't reach the desktop in the first place.

That was a little trick of the 4x3 keypad buttons mapping to the desktop icons. Sorry for the confussion.

Got a fix (sort of):

Taking a chance, I just went nuts on the 4 keys and joystick, pressing them randomly, and quickly, and moving the joystick all over the place -- sorta like button mashing a game controller in a fighting game when you don't know any moves...

Eventually (wasn't longer than 30 secs of this) all the keys started working again.

sounds like it was a bad connection. Congrads you fix the phone.

This also happened to me. I only had this phone for 14 hours and this problem already occured twice. I'm p*ssed. The only way to got it back to work is playing around with the buttons until it came back normal. Please report if you have the same problem. Is it a known issue on this phone? Sony should make this a recall

Same thing happened to me... My phone just arrived yesterday.

Possibly a firmware issue? Mine is on R1A054.

Although if anyone else has thoughts, I'm certainly open to them... I'd rather not have this keep happening.

this happened to me recently after 5 months of use. I just took off the front cover and put it back on again and somehow it worked.

Same thing happened to me, and I just go my fone this morning. What I did was take the battery and sim out for a min or 2, then when I put them back in it was workin ok

A few of us over at the ATTWS forums had the same exact problem. (where the top keys stop responding)

It turns out that they get "stuck". So just try to check which one and move it. Then the phone should be working again.

I bought my phone a few days ago, and it started happening. Even worse I was using auto-key lock so I couldn't even access the menu. then after some googling I found out the answer at the ATTWS forums.

Hope this helps.

I'm still debating whether I should go to the store and let the exchange my phone (since it is <30days) or not. I feel like it is a common problem! I'll wait a few more days and see if I start hearing more about this issue!
